The Business of Meditation and Trading

If you are great with people, you can build your own network and groups of students. If not, you need to join with an established organization that will provide the brand and tools to do it. The latter is better, not for you personally, but may provide guidance, stability, experience and...

The Business of Meditation and Trading

This is key I believe, that no matter what path, techniques, teachers or groups one hangs out with, it's all down to the individual to make use of whatever works. Avoid relying on hand-outs from others to gain "your peace of mind". Although, being with peaceful, happy and content people, may...

The Business of Meditation and Trading

Dismissing out of hand is also a belief. Too few true disbelievers in this world. Almost no true sceptics. Maybe better if people investigated for themselves, rather than just repeating what their parents told them. Meditation is not an end in itself though, and many hype it up unnecessarily as...

The Business of Meditation and Trading

Placebo is commonly used as control group in hundreds of studies on subjects like meditation, yoga, breathing exercises, etc. That there are effects and that they can be positive is beyond any reasonable doubt at this stage. There are studies showing change in DNA gene expression as well as...

Need material on volume analysis and volume price analysis

You have vertical volume and horisontal volume. If you want to use it, best suggestion is to analyze it yourself, make your own hypothesis and test them. I hardly use volume, but it complements my method in small ways. More important than volume is how price is developing. For short-term, how...

Finland to experiment with basic income

For those "survival of the fittest" crowd, I suggest moving to Africa, where there's no fixed regulations that can't be broken and everything and everyone can be bought. Obviously, people like you don't deserve government, regulations, protections and laws. Oh, and don't bring any money with...

Hidden Agenda Perpetrated by Congress and the Fed in One Chart

So shall the church of Capitalism, ignorantly disregarding what destruction unregulated profiteering has created for most beings in this world.. and the inherent instability of all FIAT currencies and inflation. Just pointing out that magical thinking like this is still creating poverty for...

The biggest mistake I've ever made in trading.

You wake up one morning. As you pass the clerk, you hear a jolly good morning and she smiles to you. Another coworker compliments you on your new haircut. Later, your boss pass by your cubicle and says she's really impressed by your presentation yesterday. After 7 more positive compliments, you...

How do you determine trend direction?

The joke is in trying to identify trends intraday though. All your charts are from 1-1.5 days max, which hardly can be said to be very trendy. If you want a real trend-joke (boring), post a chart where price consolidates for a year or two, and just continues sideways and loses liquidity... And...

How do you determine trend direction?

Hard to identify irony and sarcasm on the internets, as people are in different moods and perspectives. It helps not taking everything too seriously! :p

How do you determine trend direction?

Talking about intraday trend seem to be nonsense, when considering the seemingly random levels Open may start the day in equities and what may follow.. When real trend-following traders/investors talk about trends, they talk about moves of +-20% and beyond. Sometimes, very rarely, it can be...

Support & Resistance? Why do some work and some not?

My guess is you follow price. Having a target means some anticipation. It's quite funny, people want to profit from price movement and watch for price congestions :D In my book, neutral is weak weakness and weakness is even worse. However, temporary weaknesses are opportunity. Ah, paradoxes!

How do you determine trend direction?

I suspect many may fade opening gaps even if trading counter trend on the daily timeframe. Longer-term traders would prefer to trade with longer trend, but for daytrading and needing to make money every day, seems people are willing to trade almost anything. Heck, even Hamilton described...

How do you determine trend direction?

+1 Up -1 Down + 1 Up = 0 ;) Not easy to trade intraday it seems, but those who can do short-term reversals could be able to make good money if they are as able as they claim to be. What's with the clock?

for FX traders am I correct in thinking this

Forex is decentralized, there's no one exchange that may run your stops. If you want to be suspicious, you should be suspicious of: Private for-profit banks. They have a proven criminal track record of "greed is good" mentality and incompetence regarding ie. derivatives and hedging instruments...

How do you determine trend direction?

Fastest and most reliable trend indicator is higher or lower prices. Retracements can always fuck you up though. Any model trying to compensate for that will inevitably fail / become limited at times. It is a hard problem to deal with. As long as SL is wide though, lesser retracements cant hurt you.

Anyone trading purely Support and Resistance get a 70% or high 60% win rate?

Being dumb can be an asset, and so can being slow. Smart people, or people who like to think they're smart, often complicate things unnecessarily thinking their edge in being able to handle complicated stuff. In business, doing the hard simple stuff is often where there's untapped value, but...
