Mental stops are for extremely disciplined traders. Stop-hunting only appears to be such when you've lumped your stop in with others at the obvious levels...ie: 1-2 ticks above yesterday's high or low. Set your stops based on your plan and stick to them. MiniDowTrader

    Er2, Es & Ym

All are suitable for day trading as long as you have a disciplined trading strategy. 20 point YM stop=$100 per contract 2 point ES stop=$100 per contract 1 point ER2 stop=$100 per contract Depends on your trading strategy and entries. I like to use a 10 point stop but that may be too...

I dont want to sound like an idiot, but...

nathan- were you trying to catch a breakout with a limit order above the previous day's high? if so, you should have used a stop limit buy order or a stop market buy order depending on your broker.

Are you my nemesis now? Cool. Someone to expose me as a fraud. If I want to post my daily P/L I'll start a journal or hop over to the P/L thread. Will I succumb to your taunt? Uhh...not likely.

Mr B: Unless you're scalping, 10 point profit targets on the YM are a little tight. Volente's "Rule of 20" along with porgie's "20 point batch moves" can shed some light on the YM's intraday movement. The YM has a 100 point average daily range. You may want to look for entries that would put...

I agree with porgie.....10 point stops max intraday on the YM....pinpoint your entries......your strategy should define your entries.....thereby defining your stops.... Also check out osorico's YM journal from a couple months back. EXCELLENT! You should be able to cull a few nuggets of...

Volente is fighting the immigration problem on another thread.:D Watch for his wisdom tomorrow as he tells all to watch for a 10:30 reversal off the 1304 level of the ES as we run to 1340 because it's a "T-day"!:D :D :D ps: I'm a big V fan!

Which is more important in Index Futures? Entry or Exit?

Excellent responses by all. The reason I think entries are more important is my need to guard my money. I like to take "lower risk" entries that give almost immediate feedback as to whether the trade will produce a positive return. First and foremost, I want to protect my money with my entry...

Which is more important in Index Futures? Entry or Exit?

Age old question...which is more important? Entry or Exit? Specifically when trading Index Futures. Obviously, trading styles will influence the answers. Scalpers, swing traders, and position traders all work on different time frames and have vastly different targets thus varied opinions on...

    India's Economy

Unfortunately, having the skillsets to compete with India and China has absolutely NOTHING to do with outsourcing. It's ALL about $$$$$$. I don't care what skills you have...if a business can outsource for 1/10th the wages and zero benefits to India/China then why wouldn't they? If Bush...
