    Getting past a milestone

it is hard to change the subconscious patterns. You can treat them from the psychological point of view but you can also incorporate some little tricks into the trading process From the psychological point you could try some techniques like for example regression therapy or any similar. Your...

I just got a margin call from my broker, for the second time! I’m thinking now if it’s really that b

Agree. The same works with futures spreads. Those trades that have seasonality corresponding with an actual trend are the best trades. Trying to go against the trend (pick turns) usually cost me money

    Spread trading newbie has questions.

Welcome to the world of spreads! :) 1) if you go long Corn May and short Corn July your risk is reduced naturally since both contracts are highly correlated fundamentally. Hence the margin required is significantly lower compared to outright. Logically 2) very often when futures goes limit up...

    Margin Increase

IB is going crazy. I am not sure what kind of specialists work in the risk department but they must be really scared ... As an example the margin value for Gasoline inter-delivery spread Nov 20 - Dec 20 CME Exchange requires - 2,475 USD Gain Capital requires - 2,475 USD Interactive brokers...

Is it that simple to follow "simple" trading rules?

IronFist if you are or want to be a daytrader / scalper I would recommend to look into range bar charts rather than standard time-based charts. The RB chart displays momentum structure, swings in much better details. You can easily define lower risk entry points in a market move. Simple momentum...

Is it that simple to follow "simple" trading rules?

one day after getting some many hits, so many loses, so much pain ... you are so tired of that shit that you finally start following your trading plan without need to outsmart or tweak it. Reality of Day Trading

She sounds too vague. I doubt she lives off daytrading and I might be wrong :-D The reality of daytrading is that to make 5,000 drawdown or profit you can spent several days in front of your screen while when swing trading you can make the same amount and not sitting in front of your screen and...

Fun Thread: Why I love my trading laptop

Since I trade CME from EU it is located in Chicago .. I believe it can save some slippage cost since I enter using the market order on a signal trigger (half-automatic). So, over time the slippage savings could pay for the VPS at least :D But stability and availability is lot more important

Fun Thread: Why I love my trading laptop

The same way I cannot imagine running my platforms on my personal PC Now I have my entire trading business separated on a VPS near exchange while platforms are also installed in a "standby mode" and ready to fire on my laptop. This way my PC can blow up and I am still able to trade off my...

How to improve my risk management for daytrading.

Risking 2% for me is too much while daytrading multiple markets from sunrise to sunset, in matter of few hours I can easily end up -40% drawdown ... 5 losses here, 8 losses there, 3 losses there now you have 16 in a row ... But if I daytraded just 3 trades per day (can we still call it...

The reward-to-risk ratio: Is lower actually better?

I think it really does not matter to much eventually If you have an edge you can use 1:1, 1:2, 1:2.5 ... as you increase your Win% goes down in a linear fashion and losing streaks will grow. BUT it is also related to market you trade + timeframe ... some markets give 2.5R easily while others not...

Tested investment strategy in paper version. Expect same results in live?

Slippage drives me nuts really despite I know it is part of my daytrading system despite trading most liquid products out there My rule of thumb for the performance expectation is about 10% goes to commissions about 10 - 15% goes to slippage Now you have -25% (if everything else goes well) just...
