Realtick had the same 36 second lag after the announcement. I use IB as a backup, and other than their CBOT quotes disappearing they don't lag. Pisses you off, the one you pay for always lags and the free one works.

IB does no bundling of trades. They just send a snapshot of the current price/vol, etc at each time interval. That's why you don't see certain prices if they occur between the snapshot. If IB wanted to fix this while maintaining a snapshot feed they need to send a HLC bar which gives a...

Even though sending the tick data is the cleanest and easiest way in the long run. IB could send the price range, basically the high and the low since the last snapshot. This would go a long way toward making it look like a true tick feed. This would require very little additional bandwidth...

Simple, you give each parameter a weighting. Can even be plus or minus. Add all the weights into one variable and then see if the value in the variable is good enough for your trade.

Elocaltrading offer protech which has a free API replacing JTrader. However their commissions are higher than IB.

Are there plans to make the ActiveX API more useful? I wouldn't pay for an API that sends one bar of data for each function call. That's just a toy! In addition why do you charge for the API, If I'm not mistaken you are in the data delivery business, not the charting software business.

The API with docs gets automatically downloaded when you get the Protech program. Unfortunately you have to be an account holder to get the program. I don't think I can post it since they have all kinds of NDA's just to get the program. But trust me it's easy and I believe it's quicker...

ElocalTrading is now offering a frontend called Protechtion, which is a replacement for JTrader. It appears to still use patssystems as the backend. It however includes a free API which is just as easy to program as TWS.

If you are not using stop-limits you are a stupid man. Only stop limits are native on the exchange. You just need to set the limit to something like 10 pts from your stop to make sure it gets executed.

Realtick not working here either. They do a piss poor job of communicating when we can use what we pay for!
