    Ag trade ideas

My gut says "too early" on this one. At some point coffee will do its thing and everyone should know what to do when it does but I have a feeling people are preempting that before it's actually happened. I also don't trust it to not go and retest 115 again.

    Programming: open source licenses

Realize though that this "virus" (or poison pill if you will) is there for a good reason. It's to prevent freeloaders from basically stealing the work of others and never giving back.

    The ACD Method

Maybe you should arrange orders with someone else and just trade against each other, Mav. Then split the difference.

    Insider trading hurts only HFT

Also I should also add that latency itself isn't the actual issue. In a case like CME or ICE there's no problem if people want to pay thousands of dollars a month to sit 2 feet away from the exchange - they're not arbing anything, they're simply just faster at reacting than others. The issue is...

    Insider trading hurts only HFT

Seriously dude? You're trying to play this off like there's some kind of equal rights to the same data equation in play when it's obvious to anyone there is a clear dichotomy in play? The problem is with the implementation of the SIP and you're justifying that workarounds (which heavily...

Why Interactive Brokers Founder Fears Bitcoin Futures

IMO not allowing shorting will make for a less stable and less liquid market, not a more stable one. On the other hand I can see their concerns in that if this thing gapped to 50k over a weekend there might be some real counterparty risk of which they might be involved in.

    Insider trading hurts only HFT

IMO this is over-simplification. This is a fragmented exchange design flaw that you're attempting to explain away under the guise of "arbitrage" as if we're dealing with completely autonomous exchanges (e.g. CME vs ICE). We already have a centralized SIP which is supposed to serialize all of...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

He's just some bulltard who goes after anyone not drinking the kool aid. An observation was made about multiple people in this thread totally bulled up and apparently that means I now write for Zerohedge. In a nutshell, his response is basically: "You made a call and that call turned out wrong...

User-Defined Exchange Traded Option Strategies - CQG v. CityTrader, ADM versus Wedbush

BTW: I trade more futures spreads than options spreads, but you actually need an RFQ for a *fly* in the options spread book? That seems really odd to me.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

This thread is so freakin' bulled out right now. Couple that with a whole heap of other things and you might reconsider if you actually want to be long.

    CoT data

eSignal, but the COT plugin is some extra cost/month. They definitely support exchange traded spreads though.

Bitcoin Futures Set to Start Trading as Regulator Gives Thumbs Up CFTC says it will allow launches b

It's right there in the spec: Market Orders for XBT futures contracts will not be accepted. Any Market Orders for XBT futures contracts received by the Exchange will be automatically rejected. Stop Limit Orders are permitted during regular and extended trading hours for the XBT futures contract.

CME Group Announces Launch of Bitcoin Futures

CBOE XBT fees are 0.50$/side (1BTC) vs 5.00$/side (5BTC) on CME. So CME is twice the fees as CBOE for an equivalent size? Reminds me of when they moved Russell to CME and everyone was all hyped about not having to pay 120$/month in market data to ICE even though they were forced to pay twice the...

Bitcoin Futures Set to Start Trading as Regulator Gives Thumbs Up CFTC says it will allow launches b

Personally I can't see why CBOE is even bothering if CME is involved but we'll see. Here's the CBOE spec: http://cfe.cboe.com/cfe-products/xbt-cboe-bitcoin-futures/contract-specifications Some interesting stuff: No market orders allowed, period. Reportable level of 5 contracts vs 1 contract...

tricky spread arbitrage - can it work?

-A+B +C-B -A+C -2A+2C ? Surely you meant buy AxC? Either way I can almost assure you're missing something. Start with interest rate differentials and bid/ask spreads.

New !! CME Fed Funds-Eurodollars Exchange Spread

So it's an execution instrument just like the treasury spread ICSes basically. The margin offset with spreads vs legged outrights isn't something unique to this spreads but just a side effect of SPAN like all the others.

    Autospreaders

Definitely not. From the start I had the assumption we're talking future spreads. However if you're noticing my use of fly and thinking it's about options, it isn't. There are distinctly traded exchange provided futures spread instruments (which they call strategies) for flies, condors, and in...

    Autospreaders

If there's an exchange traded spread for the same spread and it's liquid with a good bid/ask spread it's definitely a fool's errand. The only cases where I've found this to be the case are in exchange traded flies and condors (and from what I've read, ICE is ahead of CME here technologically...
