Steps for underqualified traders to find a prop firm

The firms you mentioned will take your money, bright requires more. As far as not ripping you off on fees good luck. There are firms that will back you, but without a strategy and track record your best bet is to have a computer science degree from a top school.

    Kershner Trading/SMB

Total newbie question, what's in it for Kershner? As far as not backing themselves, what do you mean by this? I took a look at SMB seriously at one time because they pushed the fact that you would get an experienced mentor. I think found out these mentors have only been trading for a few years...

    Kershner Trading/SMB

I wonder what happened to their relationship with T3.. Sounds like SMB will now back successful traders. I wonder how many they gave back their 'training money' when they made the switch to backing traders. I would assume if you paid for training, then they moved to this biz model most of those...

At a Crossroads on Trading... Hope Someone can Help!

To answer your question, yes and no. He's offered to help me, but right now I can't give him the hours necessary. I am working a few jobs to pay off some med bills before I can commit to it. I'd just start by offering to work for free with those guys, and try to absorb everything they tell you.

At a Crossroads on Trading... Hope Someone can Help!

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I would love to make a living daytrading but it is very hard. I know one guy, my brother-in law, who makes a really good living trading, mainly intraday sometimes swing, but he's not on the floor and trades his own money (lives in Chicago). He is a great...

    Weekly Option Spreads

Thanks. I can see the potential such as calendar spreads and butterfly's on the weeklys. I'm thinking about opening another retail account only for options trading, currently either OptionsHouse or MB trading, any thoughts?

    Weekly Option Spreads

    Thanks, that makes sense

    Weekly Option Spreads

Thanks, that's actually what I was looking into, neutral type strategies with the weeklies. Just was wondering if it was worth pursuing or better off sticking with the monthlies.

    Weekly Option Spreads

Just curious.. Is anyone currently using weekly options for spreads like butterfly, straddle, strangle? Just wondering how these weekly's work with spreads. The people I talk too about these weeklies seems to use them more for hedging longer term stock positions or pure gambling trades.

Basic Risk Questions Regarding Being Naked

I actually thought the same, buying a little out maybe 1-3% of the stock price with the idea of getting delta around 30, then when it goes ITM capturing 20 Deltas (not sure if that's correct lingo). Again option newbie besides a few college courses years ago. Thanks for the book suggestion, I...

Basic Risk Questions Regarding Being Naked

Ok thanks. Just more for my education, thought there might be some good material on the greeks. But yes, I am more of a swing trading directional approach.

Basic Risk Questions Regarding Being Naked

Thanks for the replies, appreciate it. I have studied the Option Volatility and Pricing book, thought it was very good. Any other suggestions? I tend to be a breakout swing trader, holding anywhere between a few days to a few weeks. I'm just starting to get into options more and more so starting...
