I monitor and trade pt 3 channels on the 5 min chart. Perhaps they are the same as your "Tampa tapes" but I don't use the 15 min chart because I have no recollection in this thread of being advised to do so.

 The coarse (forest) level is 5 mins. Nowhere has any mention been made of using a 15 min chart to monitor. I don't recall seeing any mention of monitoring and trading on different fractals.

Spyder, Thank you for the detailed reply. The point in question was the ftt at 14:30 on 08/08/2007. I have uploaded a short video from 14:29 to 14:39 and also attached a screenshot. In this example, no pennant was formed, although one might suggest that an FBP was formed just prior to the 14:30...

Unfortunately, when trying to identify an FTT, as in my example on p826, price does not BO on increasing volume. By definition, we wish to see reducing volume as price returns to the RTL. How is one supposed to handle colour oscillation in this situation?

I raised this question back in early August with a specific example. (p826) The only conclusion that I have been able to reach is to use the idea of "formations" wherever possible. i.e. ignore the black/red flipping until price exits the formation on increasing prv. If it's opposite to the way...

There will always be increasing volume, in the dominant direction, as price moves away from a pt3. It may not be on the pt 3 bar, but it will appear.

ES 17 Sept 07 Got confused seeing increasing black at 13:45. Saw 13:30 as an r2r and the next 2 bars had decreasing black as price approached the anticipated pt 3. Suddenly I see increasing black at 13:45 and I think "Is my channel wrong?" 13:50 forms an FBP and 13:55 confirms the pt 3 with...

Spyder, How does this tie in with the requirement for volume to keep reducing as price continues its way to the RTL after an FTT?

This is an important point. Price exited the long pt 3 channel at 12:35 on decreasing volume, suggesting that the RTL requires adjustment. We get a new pt3 long on the 12:50 bar. The increasing red volume on the 13:00 bar, implies a pt 3 short at the high of the 12:55 bar. This corresponded...

Bob, before we all lose the plot here, can you please state what it is you wish to clarify? One question at a time. It will help us all to work through this logically.

I agree that prv can be very unreliable that early in the bar but I had already drawn in my ym RTL for the new pt 3 at 12:17:08 (I have just replayed my recording for the day to check) so I was in "nail that pt 3" mindset before the 12:20 bar even opened :) I don't think it was skill because...
