black scholes model pricing vs real life pricing

There's a great book called Volatility Trading, by Euan Sinclair which might point you in the right direction. Don't worry about trying to directly value the option, just compare the implied volatility of the option with your volatility forecast for the underlying. If there is a large enough...

If you use end of day data, Tradingblox is an excellent commercial product.

Charting Software to Plot Custom Spreads

TradingView can do that very easily, although you need to have the PRO version ($30/month) to chart intraday spreads. Unfortunately no tick charts (yet). They also chart the major cryptocurrencies.

    Replicate CPI?

This is more of an investment question than a trading question, but there are some smart fixed income guys on here that could probably help me out. Let's say I am earning a pension in my retirement that pays $50,000/year. (I know, pensions, how quaint!). I am not concerned with the pension...

    Properly "spreading" with real spreads.

If you are into seasonality, I would take a look at seasonalgo.com. It has a really slick platform that lets you analyze any spread combination of any commodity.

    Real Time Energy Trader

If you are on Twitter, Brynne Kelly (@brynnekkelly) sometimes provides electricity trading career-type info on her feed. There are also a few interviews with her on the net. She also recommends a book called SHORT, by Courtright McNeel, which is a novel about electricity traders that she says is...

The Quest to find 15 uncorrelated asset classes

A good start is Permanent Portfolio, which was popularized by Harry Browne (who also later ran for President as a Libertarian). 25% Stocks, 25% cash (or very short-term bonds), 25% long term bonds, and 25% gold, rebalanced at least annually. The absolute returns over a long period of time are...

IB TWS connection problems at work. Desperate...

Ipad/tablet with mobile capability for charting, webtrader for execution. I would be very, very careful messing with company IT stuff. That's a fireable offense where I work. Tethering work laptop with an unauthorized private phone would set off massive alarms.

    "Security Analysis" best version?

I have the 1940 edition. Supposedly it is Warren Buffett's favorite.

What was the first book you read on anything related to Wall Street ?

Probably Beat the Street (and later One Up on Wall Street) by Peter Lynch. The investing lessons have held up fairly well, despite some of the critcisms. (Hint: It's 1000x times more complicated than "buy what you know," and he says as much in the books.)

    Anyone have RIA?

An accredited investor is a "rich guy/gal." They have to meet minimum net worth and/or income requirements. You should look up the specifics, but it's generally around $1 million net worth and/or $200,000/year of income. Because they are rich, they are presumed to know what they are doing, and...

    Anyone have RIA?

It's not "easy," but it's getting "easier." Interactive Brokers has a pretty good platform for small RIAs. I would read every single link on this page (several times) to understand what's involved. https://www.interactivebrokers.com/adv/en/main.php [No affiliation with IB]

Have you upgraded to Oreo on Android? I don't use Robinhood, but the latest version of the OS has caused some minor disruptions with other apps.

How are services like Tim Sykes legal?

This is taken directly from Mr. Sykes's Terms of Service page. Excellent CYA job. (I'll make you rich, but I'm not legally giving you advice): GENERAL DISCLAIMER The Company is not an investment, financial, tax, or legal advisor or a broker-dealer and does not purport to provide personalized...

How are services like Tim Sykes legal?

He most likely adds a disclaimer which says that his service is only "training and education" and not "investment advice" (which is B.S., but whatever). Also has a lot of disclaimers saying that this is high risk and that you can lose all of your money (in fine print of course). Training and...

i have an idea to how to draw from 401k interest free??

Most 401(k)s do not allow individual stock purchases. Of those that do have a "brokerage window" most do not allow shorting.

Beginner in selling Bull Put Spread

What broker/platform do you use? How do you pick which stocks/indices and strikes to use? A lot of people really like ThinkorSwim from TD Ameritrade, although I'm not sure if that is available in Canada.
