Natural gas - where is the bottom

Care to elaborate? Are you referring to Market Wizards?

    Platform ProTrader for Automated Trading

Eleventrader made an almost identical post about this on Traderslaboratory. I think he's a shill. Gekko - I think TJ was referring to Eleventrader, not you.

    Data report Straddle

I was curious about the same thing, and discovered a few problems: 1. That nice solid bar going straight up/down actually has a lot of gaps in it. I took a snapshot of the tick data on Russel 2K futures on a jobs report. First tick after the announcement was 4 POINTS lower, even though...

    CL Spreads

How do the energy spread markets interact with the individual markets in terms of price and volume prints? I hear that the NYMEX has a spread matching engine that executes certain spreads as a spread, not two legs. Does each leg's print show up on the underlying contracts? What about...

    Futures trading broker

I've been looking into Velocity Futures. Their commissions look pretty competitive. (No, I don't work for Velocity.)

    CL Spreads

Looks like the EIA inventory report was more bearish for gasoline than oil, since the RBX0/CLX0 spread tightened up quite a bit. Both inventory reports were pretty bearish, though.

Would have been nice to ride the NG/CL spread today (in the correct direction, of course!).

    CL Spreads

Basic question. I'm playing around with the spread charting function in futuresource, and I am wondering how you adjust the math for contracts with different bases (e.g. RBOB gas is cents per gallon while crude is $ per barrel). Do I multiply gas by 42 to "even out" the spread? (i.e...

    Pictures of Your Trading Layouts

Have you found any problems with responsiveness, etc., using parallels? The extra "layer" doesn't cause any issues?

    CL Spreads

Just to be clear, are you referring to futures calendar spreads or options on futures? Why does a 2-3 day swing offer a better risk/reward right now? Also, are there any spreads that are currently favorable for day-trading? (3-2-1 NYMEX crack?)

    CL Spreads

How can you do such large volume on spreads? Do you scale in orders, or just accept a bit of slippage on longer-term trades? WTI Crude is very liquid, but Natural Gas and RBOB is less so. I see less than 10 contract orders pushing the price by a couple of ticks during slower periods.

    ES Journal Archive (2009 - 2010)

I wonder if the bottom will fall out of the ES if it hits 1100.50. I bet there are a lot of sell stops there. Of course, given the ES market, the market will reverse 10 mins later, trapping a gazillion shorts with fills from 1100.5 to 1100...

Does it really cost 20% to trade emini?

Not necessarily. Let's say you always go in the direction of the market (which is the least favorable for slippage.) Last trade of 20 contracts hits the ask at 1100.25. However, there were 500 contracts offered at 1100.25, so now there are 480. Your buy stop triggers at 1100.25, and your 33...

    Kelly sizing...

I would add that, should each of your five strategies have significant correlation with each other (say, a long trade on both GBP/USD and EUR/USD, or long Bank of America and JP Morgan), then you need to cut your bet size on each trade, since you would be essentially doubling your risk. I...

    Kelly sizing...

In theory, you could put more than 80% into five uncorrelated strategies, since you would get some diversification benefit. In practice, trading at full Kelly for even one strategy is suicidal, since your "edge" is not guaranteed to be stable over time, and the future data you base your...

Step by Step How HFT's will SCREW YOU on the payroll number

I have a ThomsonOne feed at work, and I was monitoring the behavior during the news announcement this morning. I noticed that the volume started to spike about 8:29:30, then reached its normal craziness during the 8:30-8:31 bar. Normally, the volume picks up a bit as the straddle stops get...

    CL Redux

New guy here, so go easy on me! I was looking at different futures markets to daytrade, and CL seems to have a lot of potential along with ES and TF. I would look for "big scalp/small swing" profits (1-3 ES/TF points, 0.1-0.3 CL points) per successful trade. What is CL like in terms of...
