Beginner question - please recommend a market

You can trade forex. It definitely has some drawbacks (most of the time you trade against the broker, although you can also find ECN-type dealers), but there are some (e.g. Oanda) that do not have minimum trade sizes. You can buy $1 of EURUSD if you want. This allows to to manage your leverage...

    Best Stocks Historical Data Provider?

If you want to include fundamental data, Portfolio123 is a great option. It uses the compustat database, and includes delisted stocks.

    Mentoring

Check out seasonalgo. It's a web-based tool that lets you look at seasonal patterns for just about every commodity and spread combination. The Goldman Roll should show up as a seasonal bias for calendar spreads. (I am a subscriber but have no affiliation with the company)

KC Wheat is where all the action is this week. Angie Setzer (great ag follow on Twitter as "GoddessofGrain") is posting picture after picture of dead wheat stalks covered in snow.

    black diamond forex

I think that is a different, unrelated "Black Diamond." (This could be a scam too, just a different one!)

    black diamond forex

They need to spend some money on a decent website. Kinda vague on the costs. Also a little scary pooling money with a group of traders using 50:1 leverage.

    Looking for old 5-minute charts

Tradestation has the data you want built into their platform. 25 years intraday data for stocks and 30 years for futures. I'm not sure what you would need to do if you don't want to open up an account with them, but you might be able to transfer a token amount for enough time to construct some...

Hedge Fund Investors Retreating from Underperforming CTAs

Here is the link, which includes the chart "I think I saw." https://www.trendfollowing.com/performance/ EDIT: This is NOT an endorsement of Michael Covel! He is a salesman, not a trader.

Hedge Fund Investors Retreating from Underperforming CTAs

Dunn is probably the "best for the longest" CTA. Not 20% CAGR, but in the neighborhood. I think I saw a long term chart of his total composite that showed 18% CAGR since inception, but with multiple 30%+ drawdowns. "DUNN is one of the managed futures industry’s oldest firms and is managing...

Thanks for posting that @TraDaToR, I was going to ask if KC calculated carry the same as Spring Wheat (I have been watching the ZWU-ZWZ spread, which is cratering). Now I know!

    es vs. equally liquid instrument

There is very little difference between SPY and ES volatility, because they track the same index - the S&P 500. The difference is the embedded leverage in the ES futures. Holding only 1 ES contract is the equivalent of buying $116,000 worth of SPY. With some futures brokers offering $500...

    Gold and Silver for Life

It sounds like you sell out of the money (OTM) puts on either the GLD ETF or gold futures, with a sufficient amount of cash to buy the position if the puts are assigned to you (because the price falls). So, technically, you are being paid for the right to buy GLD below the current price...

    Platts's Oil Global Alert

That may be overkill, unless you are slinging around 100s of contracts and trading OTC and cash/physical as well. If you want integrated fundamental data, DTN ProphetX is pretty strong in this regard. Not sure how much it costs though. They do offer a free trial, and have specific energy...

Two popular ones that I have heard of (but not used) are Trade Ideas and Madscan. Search for these terms on here and you might find some threads that talk about them.

    Strategies

I don't think anyone will give out their EXACT screening technique, but generally it involves looking for stocks that have moved a lot on high volume, and also scanning the news during the the day.
