Regular hours limit orders on IB that will participate in the opening cross

There is a NASDAQ report on the opening cross at http://www.emi.nasdaq.com/displayfileInline.aspx?file=41&type=index&source=home&tab=openclose . If I am reading it correctly (I am not sure what all the column headings mean), the first trade after the opening cross was at 8. That suggests to...

Regular hours limit orders on IB that will participate in the opening cross

I am not sure how you could confirm it without some sort of announcement by IB. If you placed a RTH limit order and you got the opening price, that would not necessarily mean you participated in the opening cross. If you did not get the opening price, it might mean that there were insufficient...

Judge Orders Grasso to Pay Back Money

There may be other rules that apply here especially since the judge characterized some of the prior amounts received as loans. The general rule for these types of repayments of amounts that were received under a "claim of right," however, is that you do not amend prior returns. You treat the...

    Basket Orders and Bracket Orders

Thanks for the reminder about zeroline trader. I have looked at it before and it did not support the order types that I wanted to use but now my interests have changed and I am going to look at it again. By the way, I may be misreading your response but it is possible to import a bunch of...

    Basket Orders and Bracket Orders

There was something on the IB discussion board that suggested that bracket orders could be submitted using the basket feature of TWS. I have been unable to do that. Is it possible to submit a group of bracket orders from, say, a text file using only the TWS software?

Fidelity Active Trader Pro - Anything better out there?

I am a very satisfied Wealth Lab Developer user who purchased before Fidelity acquired Wealth-lab. As I understand it, Fidelity has restricted the ability of Wealth Lab Pro and Wealth Lab Developer so that it is not possible to automatically trade with IB with either program unless you...

    Collect intraday data from IB

Chisel There is an excel worksheet called new-ohlc.xls that does pretty much what you were asking about. You get to it by clicking on the QLOG link at http://www.quotelink.net/qlcgi/wiki.pl/Examples. The worksheet looks quite odd because the author has placed formulae in various places...

    Collect intraday data from IB

Quotein has a feature that is almost identical to what you describe. I believe it is called their QLOG function. They are at www.quotein.com.

Schwab's Streetsmart or Fidelity's Active Trader Pro?

I don't use either broker but I use the Wealth Lab Developer backtesting program which, I believe, is now a part of the Active Trader Pro package at Fidelity. I think it is excellent software and, if other considerations turn out to be equal, I would recommend Fidelity for the Wealth Lab...

Do foreign futures qualify for 1256 tax treatment?

I think at least a partial answer is at http://www.greencompany.com/EducationCenter/GTTRecForeignFutures.shtml#foreignfutures. It is a long answer but it concludes that the contracts on the exchanges they list are arguably eligible for 1256 treatment.

    IB conditional orders in baskets?

Does anybody use the conditional order feature of TWSDDE.XLS to monitor large numbers of orders? If so, does it work well? Do you have to change any of the macros to get the system to work? Are you aware of any alternatives for monitoring several hundred orders at a time and submitting or...

    IB compatable platforms: Opinions??

If you are using the basket trader and finding that TWS appears to freeze when you submit a bunch of orders, you may find that turning the "audit trail" off will speed things up considerably. MS

    Genesis Securities, Pros and Cons

As of June 5, the IB short list in the morning for the U. S. market now appears to have about the same number of securities as Genesis.

Larry Williams arrested in Sydney for tax evasion

I think that, in civil cases, the burden is usually, but not always, on the taxpayer. In criminal cases, I think the burden is always on the government.

    Genesis Securities, Pros and Cons

I am very satisfied with IB but their recent reduction in the number of available shortable stocks around the open has, I think, substantially reduced the profitability of a strategy that use to work quite well. As a result of this thread, I just looked at Genesis' short list. It seems to be...

The Single-Family Home Tax Shelter Myth

Suppose you were considering two investments. The first was an unoccupied house and the second was a financial investment. Suppose that the two investments generated exactly the same cash returns over your expected holding period and had exactly the same risk characteristics. Holding other...

The Single-Family Home Tax Shelter Myth

The interest you pay is on a declining principal amount and is usually, at least partially, deductible. The appreciation is compounding and based initially on the full value of the house, not the outstanding principal. The appreciation is not currently taxable and may never be taxable. If it...

Looking for free PDF creator to save docs to

I purchased ADOBE Acrobat but I had trouble updating it a few years ago so I downloaded PDFCreator from http://sector7g.wurzel6.de/pdfcreator/index_en.htm. It is available as freeware under the General Public License. I don't think it does the sophisticated things that you can now do with...

    IB's Short List of U. S. Stocks

A month or so ago, IB's short list for U. S. stocks seemed to be averaging slightly under 6000 securities. Now the short list seems to average below 4500 securities around the open and raise to an average below 5500 during the day. Does anyone know if this is a policy change?
