Does IB support this order type?

I assume that there is an easier way to do what you want but one way, I think, would be (1) to duplicate the sell limit order that is already on TWS but don't submit it; (2) prepare the corresponding stop order but don't submit it; (3) use the OCA coding that is described at...

Could anybody point me to good Matlab IB TWS interface?

TWSLINK at Trade-commander.org claims to work with Matlab. I use it to link Excel to TWS and it works fine for me. There is a Yahoo news group on TWSLINK that might have Matlab-specific information.

Does IB support this order type?

I think the Good After Time order attribute explained here: http://individuals.interactivebrokers.com/php/webhelp/Making_Trades/Create_Order_Types/good_after.htm is what you are looking for.

Anyone know why futures get special tax rates?

This is my understanding of the background for the 60/40 treatment. Prior to 1981, an individual who had large capital gains from, say, the sale of his or her business would be approached by brokerage firms with a technique for shifting the taxation on the capital gain indefinitely into the...

    Tax on futures

I have never heard that the foreign tax credit was unavailable for foreign taxes related to capital gain income and I cannot find a reference for that. I think it is likely, though, that many foreign countries do not impose taxes on U. S. citizens or residents engaging in securities...

Finally some data: About 17% of losses from subprime booked so far...

I don't think the mortgage holder is likely to lose the full amount of the mortgage if it goes into default. Therefore, if $260 billion goes into default, the actual loss to the mortgage holder would be, I think, substantially less than $260 billion.

    Getting IB's TWS to talk

I was unaware that TWS generated these audio messages. I have heard these messages when I used Ninja Trader, however.

looking for a good API to interface with Excel RT

Quotein and XLQ allow you to place real time data in Excel cells which you can manipulate pretty much like any other data in Excel. I have used them both and I think both are good products with responsive developers. Both are RTD-based which I understand offers a speed advantage over older...

TWSLink for linking your Application to TWS

Thanks very much for your detailed reply. When I said "order management," I meant that you can define a strategy in terms of targets and stops and arrange for Ninja Trader to automatically implement the strategy for a given position without any coding.

TWSLink for linking your Application to TWS

MAXCHINASKI, I am currently using EXCEL --> TEXT FILE --> Ninja Trader (Trial Version) --> IBTWS to implement a strategy. I have been testing this for about three weeks (using IQFEED rather than TWS to simulate trades) and it seems to work fine. I have been monitoring the Trade-Commander...

shorting through IB - no message if shares not avalable

This is a somewhat related point relating to another message. When an opening order is not executed, you get a message to that effect that apparently cannot be turned off. The message is not too helpful because it doesn't identify the particular order and you can readily tell which orders are...

    Active traders using TurboTax?

I put in $10,000,000 as gross proceeds and then a corresponding number as basis so that the net gain or loss and all the other computations are correct in TurboTax. Then I print out the forms; white out those two numbers; and replace them with the accurate numbers.

475f of tax code - Trader status question

I think that, if you have trader as opposed to dealer status, your gains and losses are still capital gains and losses reported on schedule D. It is possible that you would not have any gross income on Schedule C but you could still take whatever deductions on schedule C that you are entitled...
