    SPX Credit Spread Trader

If memory serves: The drop on April 14 and 15 was mainly due to the bad earning report from IBM. The information was leaked to the public, so IBM announced their earning miss ahead of schedule. I cannot recall what happened on April 13, 2005. April 15 was expiration Friday. You may like...

Recommendations for a good book about selling options

If you read his article: "The Art of Option Selling", you will notice that he did claim that he sold Calls and Puts. But he also claimed that he mainly sold Puts. I am amazed that someone, who is mainly selling Puts on S & P 500 futures, and yet has a positive return(4.86%) for the month of...

Recommendations for a good book about selling options

Ansbacher claimed that he mainly sold Put options on S & P 500 futures. According to the performance record posted on his web site, he has one losing year since 1991: -5.51% in year 2000, when S & P 500 collapsed. Hence, he probably was not lying. Now, here comes the more interesting...

limit order in between the bid and ask

Before posting my answer to the original poster, I entered a limited order at a price of 12.16 to sell one contract of QQQQ JAN 2006 41.0 Call, and submitted to BOX via Interactive Brokers(TWS). The order has been accepted by BOX, and stayed there for more than ten minutes. I have no...

limit order in between the bid and ask

Yes. It is a common practice to enter a limit order between the bid and the ask. Since QQQQ options are listed at BOX, you can enter a limit order at prices like 2.16, 2.17, 2.18, etc., provided your broker support this feature.

Would you Trade a System that failed a backtest ?

I would say "no". IMHO: If backtesting is similar to interpolation (curve-fitting), live trading will be analogous to extrapolation. The latter is much more difficult. In addition, new trading instruments, new regulations, new technologies, etc., are introduced to the financial market at a...

    Sucks!

Nice guys finish last. Most people at Wall Street equate "being nice" with "being incompetent". It is easier to get attention or help by behaving in the above-mentioned manner.

    Sucks!

Please calm down.:p If you work at Wall Street, you must deal with office politics, finger-pointing, conflicts of interest, ass-kissing, etc. These are rules of the game. It is fair that everyone tries his best to protect himself. The system has been fine-tuned so that only "TEAM PLAYERS"...

Each brokerage firm has a procedure that is spelled out in your account agreement forms. The Options Clearing Corporation ("OCC") uses the 75 cent threshold for customer orders, but your firm may have a different threshold. Here is how The OCC describes it: EXERCISE BY EXCEPTION...
