Overwhelming Majority Of Americans Support Gov't Health Care Even If Taxes Rise

This isn't Wall Street News, it's freakin' politics. Rateesquad, you commented on this thread, how about moving it where it belongs?

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

Certainly the NAR's data is intended to support a conclusion, is it not? SM, EVERY source of information is pre-disposed to some position, based on the "evidence" it uses. It's all about the analysis and the reason used in reaching a conclusion. Yes, most sources are crap, but I think you'll...

Nancy Pelosi and her empty promises

It really doesn't matter, they're ALL full of shit! The idiot Democrats think it's possible to make everyone "equal" and that if we only had more government goodness, we'd have Utopia. The idiot Republicans think if they could only fully regulate morality and create a quasi-theocracy, we'd...

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

SM, for a unique view of the economy you won't find in useless mainstream media, you might find Mish's blog worth a look at http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com. If you spend some time reviewing his posts from the last few weeks, I think your optimism about RE and the economy may be...

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

If I'm correct about deflation, I don't see anything standing in the way of further declines in the cost of materials or the price of existing housing. I think both can and will drop, as price cuts become the only way to move inventory, and in order to get work, labor costs drop as well...

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

Well, let's agree to disagree on that. There are always plenty of "reasons" why "X" market is somehow different. In my view, manias are manias, and they always end badly.

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

One uptick (stipulating the NAR figures represent reality - lazy "journalists" only parrot what they're told) does not mean the RE bull market has returned. Yes, real estate WAS in a bull market, with occasional corrections, for decades. The final run-up was a classic blow off top consistent...

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

Exactly, especially considering the source is the NAR. David Liarrhea, after spending several months denying there was even the possibility of RE price declines, has since been calling for a bottom every few weeks for about six months. The psychology during bear markets, and RE is no...

The Market Down 200 Points This Week?

Who cares? Profitable (note I didn't say "professional") traders trade, they don't predict.

Incorrect EOD Option Quotes by IB

Thanks, MTT. What's interesting is that in this case (futures options), the prices shown by IB match what the CME has for the settlement price, it's just a day off.

Fox Biz Channel buzz is back

Ha! Well, if it is, no one would be more surprised than me! In a bull market, people want to hear "news" and "reasons" that support their prediction. I don't think there's much of a demand (yet) for gloom and doom.

Incorrect EOD Option Quotes by IB

In TWS, the closing quote for ES and NQ options (and perhaps other GLOBEX contracts) uses the settlement price from two days prior instead of the previous day's settlement price. This results in incorrect figures in the "change" column when compared to the previous day. Perhaps the issue is...

Fox Biz Channel buzz is back

"There's money to be made here! Let's do that financial news thing we've been talking about for awhile!" Looks to me like a contrary indicator for a significant top.

Why go to Las Vegas when Shanghai has the stocks???????????????????

Two good reasons to be short: 1. The rise went exponential and recently cracked the uptrend. 2. Time magazine noticed there was a bull market in China. Talk about the freakin' kiss of death. Please, I don't want to argue "fundamentals" and "reasons" with any of the true believers. It's...

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

A lot of folks think Mish is nuts, but his posts are thoughtful and backed up with data. Lot's of interesting reading at: http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com The trackback isn't working yet, so if you view this after the article scrolls off, look for "Vacancies Soar / Lending...

RealEstate - THIS WILL BLOW YOUR MIND

The latter, I think. The psychology looks like the proverbial bearish "river of hope". A simple pause in the decline is cause for joyous proclamations the slide is over. I especially love it when I read "evidence" issued by the professional liars at the NAR who say all gonna be OK.

    Short Sale Rule Eliminated Soon!?!

After about seventy years, a rule created to make it more difficult to drive a stock's price down may be eliminated as "unnecessary". Who says they don't ring bells at tops?

    Open-E-Cry Issues

I've been with OEC since April and haven't had any problems. The DOM is good, especially since the last upgrade. Since they added charts with the tools I need, I dropped my old chart service and the data feeds I used to pay for. I couldn't be more satisfied.
