    Testing Option Strategies With TradeStation

Thanks for the links....interesting. I especially enjoyed that one claim of Optionwizard regarding their accuracy of the "greeks". Big deal. Totally meaningless unless you are moving MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in option trades. Here is your answer...

    Testing Option Strategies With TradeStation

but the best alternative to PERFECT option pricing is to use the BS model (via TS Easy Language) to estimate the market prices. With a LARGE sample size ... i.e. many trades, this would be a valid approach IMHO. For 10-20 trades per year....this would not work.

    DIA vs. DJX

Maybe this surfaced before, but I see today that DIA traded from 111.15 up to 112.32 and DJX was 111.02 to 112.41 (as of 2:21 pm EDT). Right now my monitor shows DIA up .99 and DJX up 1.36. Any reason why these two dow measures don't track more closely ? I understand there is a dividend payout...

Victor Niederhoffer's Matador Fund is down 12% in 2006

Surf - the above implies that YOU KNOW what the PLAN entails ? One of the issues that has surfaced is whether or not VN has been doing naked put selling again, or has he learned his lesson and converted to credit spreads ?

Victor Niederhoffer's Matador Fund is down 12% in 2006

Vic's Short Put Strategy...and his inclination to sell puts was well explained in the recent (July 2006) issue of SFO magazine in an article on options. It appears Vic had picked-up on the fact that the post 1987 crash period had caused premiums on OTM puts to soar relative to theoretical...

Is everyone making a Ton of $$$, if not, then WHY?

Dude - you're not dumb...BUT: This is COUNTER-TREND trading....and you are aware of course that great traders like John Henry ...do the opposite: TRADE WITH THE TREND. Countertrend strategies have been proven to be great only for intraday/short-term day trading. For other time-frames...it...

    Anyone watch CNBC's Fast Money?

You mean the Thursday episode is a COMPLETE NEW SHOW and not a re-run of Wednesday ? Is that right ?

    Anyone watch CNBC's Fast Money?

Last week (not this week), the advice was to go short GM and short RIMM (ahead of earnings). BOTH WERE TOTALLY WRONG. Be careful: this was not mentioned on this week's show.

    Algo-traders/Execs are rockin...

Great Post. There is one trader who has done both....Rickey Cheung. He lost a ton of money trading commodities discretionarily. Then he created a few mechanical approachs that have done quite well. Now he's a "blended trader" and he tells me his days of constantly losing are over.

Sophistication of Different Automated Trading Systems

    1) Tradestation has been around for YEARS. 2) Is it the PERFECT PLATFORM ? NO. Badly needed enhancements still needed ! 3) Has it been improving ?: Immensely. 4) At 1 million+ lines of code, would you want to replicate it's features ? (answer="not in this lifetime")

Sophistication of Different Automated Trading Systems

This statement is quite strange unless it applies to a pre-version 8 release of Tradestation. Why would anyone use Tradebolt/Tradestation combo unless there was a substantial penalty from simply placing the orders thru Tradestation ?

Evaluating A Failing System article - my commentary

However, it is quite notable that Rickey Cheung's RC Success system as applied to the eRL (mini-russell 2000) contract is UP a whopping 57% this quarter alone ! Even the Sharpe ratio from recent performance is quite astounding.

Evaluating A Failing System article - my commentary

Thanks for the heads-up Jack....I received that letter, but did not read it. I just requested a daily email report from Attain. I think they are doing great work, and they are the first to provide a browser-based performance platform. Unfortunately, the market's recent price action has many...

Prop firm won't send check to close my account

Guys...all went well....and I got my money...but I can't name the players. Suffice it to say, going to the clearing firm and doing my research via the NASD were very effective (and cheap relative to getting a lawyer involved). After getting one offer from another prop firm, I decided to go...

    Niederhoffer still on top !

Of course...same old, same old...REVERSION TO MEAN. Same concept used by our (disasterous) friends at LTCM. Volatility is mean-reverting....but as LTCM learned, forecasting the reversion is not really possible....i.e. we could stay in this low volatility environment a lot longer.
