u dont have to go back far, on feb 27 i had stops at IB on QQQQ and AAPL that failed to trigger, due to "crossed quotes coming from NASDAQ"..with the kind of technical problems at the exchanges we've been seeing on days of high volatility lately, u can only imagine what would happen to your stop...

So why is there no reduction in margin req when i buy 1000 QCOM at $45 and short 1000 QQQQ at $45 on IB's PM demo? BUY 1000 QCOM margin req becomes $6363 then SHORT 1000 QQQQ and margin req becomes $13008 for the combined (hedged?) position Am I wrong in considering this a hedged position?

After talking to IB, the crossed quote from NASDAQ was exactly the reason why the stop orders did not execute. Glad to hear that IB is doing something about it, coz it seems computer glitches and quote issues at the exchanges are going to the norm whenever volatility increases if this FOMC day...

Good point jim, so for NASDAQ stocks, are you saying that if the primary exchange (say NASDAQ as was the case today) has frozen quotes that IB should switch to getting quotes and routing to ARCA? Please elaborate.

on IB I had a stop order on AAPL filled 2 minutes after price crossed my stop price, and another stop on QQQQ that i cancelled coz it was just sitting there a minute after price crossed through the stop price, which may be because of the crossed quote i dont know....Although Genesis acknowledged...

What makes you think price will bounce from this "chart support" to begin with? Something you read in a TA book? Backtesting? Experience? Maybe it's not the answer ur looking for, but if u dont think about this question seriously, it is only your account that will be vigorously penetrated.
