    low commission broker???

What type of orders do you place most often? Market orders? Limit orders? Do you place orders away from the market price or at the market price? Depending on your style of trading, some brokers will be more competetive than others.

    Genesis API and custom software

To reply to my own question, although it can be done through Excel interface, i found the easiest way to send a basket of orders in Laser is simply to generate one very long string of orders separated by '|' separators and paste it right into the "Command Center" window and press ENTER Now i...

Why is RTH(Regular trading hours only) not valid for some stocks?

In IB TWS, go to Configure->Order->Order Defaults->Other Default Order Settings then look for the "Regular Trading Hours Only" checkbox at the very bottom. If it is checked, remove the checkmark and press OK

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

My suggestion: IB has very recently started offering pass-through of ECN rebates/charges but still charges a PER SHARE commission in the new "unbundled" commission structure. Although its a step in the right direction, my suggestion to IB is to now offer fixed per-order (not per share) stock...

New IB Commissions for High Volume Stock Traders

Comparing adding liquidity trades: with IB's new unbundled structure which charges a starting $0.0035 per share commission to a fixed per-order commission charged by Choicetrade ($5 per trade), we can see that the fixed per-order structure used by Choicetrade is better for larger trade sizes...

New IB Commissions for High Volume Stock Traders

RML Trading via Penson financial breaks down your commissions down to ECN charges and rebates. In one column they show you the fixed charge you paid per order (eg X dollars per trade) and they show you in another column the ECN rebate or charge incurred for that trade. What about Genesis do...

    Losing Money

To prevent major losses, dont hold large positions overnight...if u keep your largest position to < 20% of your account, if your largest position drops 50% overnight, it will "only" be a 10% loss on your account, survivable. Still doesnt prevent you from risk of multiple positions tanking or...

New IB Commissions for High Volume Stock Traders

Although it's a step in the right direction, im disappointed that IB didnt offer a fixed per-ticket commission and pass-thru ECN charges/rebates like all other firms that i know of do (RML, Genesis etc.) I don't see how IB can justify charging an unbundled per-share base commission (0.0035/share...

whats the best ecn ? rebates vs connectivity

Good points Pete...another point which i wanted to make is connectivity: Another advantage of BRUT is that it will route your passive limit order out if it is crossed by a displayed quote from another market. (see Directed Cross Orders...

whats the best ecn ? rebates vs connectivity

Whats the best ECN in terms of rebates vs connectivity, assuming youre always adding liquidity? For example, ATTN pays the highest rebate (0.003/share) of all ECNs, but from what i understood it is not as "connected" to other ECNs as ARCA or BRUT, which pay a lower rebate. That means if you...

    Genesis API and custom software

Whats the best way to place a basket order of, say, 50 orders simultaneously into Laser. Using the Excel link, i tried to set the "ready" field of all 50 orders to "yes" simultaneously, but only managed to fire off the first order in the column. Thanks in advance.

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

At 3:50pm, IB liquidates positions in any account whose SMA is less than zero until the SMA comes back above zero. This algorithm should take into account MOC (Market on Close) orders. In other words, positions for which MOC orders have been placed, should be factored into the SMA before...

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

Best Way to Short on Nasdaq

If I place a Market on Open Short sell order on a NASDAQ stock, what determines if my order gets filled short at the open? Are there any conditions (uptick?), or is this type of order always filled?

    Aob

Ive been following it mainly because one of my friends had a "large" stake in it until yesterday that is. It seems they released earnings during market hours. I think that may have had something to do with the sharp pre-noon selloff.
