Mini-Dow comes in two flavors: YJ (2$, not new), YM (5$, new). Should be able to see YJ quotes on IB TWS.
Order entry for futures is not integrated into TS6. It is webbased, see Lind-Connect at www.lind-waldock.com
IB TWS Bulletin Board - Monday April 1, 2002
*** 15:08:36 To GLOBEX users
Mon Apr 1 15:08:36 2002 EST Some GLOBEX options are unavailable for trading.
Futures are available.
We are working on correcting the problem and hope to have it resolved soon.
We apologize for the inconvenience...
No problem with TS6 (Tradestation), all Mini-Contracts (CBOT) without exchange fee (ACE / 30$).
Big problem with IB: They want me to pay exchange fee (ACE / 30$).
We should do some promotion for YM !
If there is no volume, then you can´t trade.
With TS6 I get the Mini-Dow quotes for free (no exchange fee),
but IB says "must subscribe to ACE quotes and pay 30 bucks".
Only access to electronic markets like Globex, A/C/E, LIFFE, EUREX, MATIF, HKFE
Must have another broker (introducing broker) for pit trading that executes
and clears thru a firm like Alaron, GNI, Man Fiancial, Refco, RGC etc.
IB Data Subscription:
If CBOT offers them for free, can I subscribe to this Mini-Contracts ONLY ?
With CME I do have the choice: E-Mini or all quotes. With CBOT there is no such choice.
Hi voltrader, you mentioned EasyScreen and Patsystems.
How about Trading Technolgies Inc, what do their financials look like ?
They might offer their X_Trader to retail customers if they could make money with it.
Hi def,
from this type of bulletin how can I know what happens to stop orders held at IB servers ?
Do you know for this particular date if there had been problems with stops (CME/Globex) ?
I never would use CQG for order entry.
CQG network is used for
a) data transmission
b) order transmission
c) downloading updates ( ~ 40 MB)
Who will be responsible if your order gets stuck ?
Yes, I think this is the main reason.
With J-Trader or IB TWS I cannot enter any non-electronic order at the moment. I would have to open a new account with another broker. There are very few pit-traded commodities that I might want to trade: energy (crude oil, natural gas), what else ...
