    The NBA's Sickening Hyposcrisy

Never make the mistake of believing things like this are about morality. It doesn't matter if you're selling athletic apparel, razors, or a professional sport. It all comes down to money.

Income inequality, highest in 50 years

The wealth gap & income gap will always widen. The only time it really narrows is during a recession when the value of investments drop. But wage growth last year was the highest its been in a decade, and the highest wage growth came at lower income levels. So I don't really see the problem.

California to allow college athletes to profit from endorsements

Upon second thought, this wouldn't work. College athletics revolve around college football and the revenue that it generates. There are only 7 FBS level football programs in California. Top talent won't go to FCS level schools like Sacramento State or UC Davis just because they can make money...

California to allow college athletes to profit from endorsements

That would be wild. They'll have to get in-state schools on board though. Cal, USC, & Stanford have all come out in opposition to this bill. I don't think they would want to leave the NCAA unless they didn't have a choice in the matter.

California to allow college athletes to profit from endorsements

There are a lot of different layers to this: 1) The NCAA is built on amateur athletics, and I don't see them changing that. I think they'll fight this hard. 2) The state of California has no jurisdiction over the NCAA outside of state lines. The NCAA could remove CA colleges from their...

McConnell's going to block the impeachment trial from happening in the Senate

I guess it's possible, but McConnell has made no indications that he would do that. Most republicans believe that a failed impeachment process would work towards their favor in the 2020 elections. Blocking the trial would likely have the opposite effect.

A message to some day traders.

That's been my experience. I've always felt like longer time frames contain less noise than shorter time frames. I've had a lot more success trend following the overall market as a long term investor than as an active trader. Everyone sees things differently though. What looks like noise to me...

Here's something to think about. The entire concept of complete/incomplete information is flawed. There is no such thing as complete information. It doesn't matter if you're a scalper, day trader, swing trader, or long term investor, you will never have complete information when you make an...

I want to expand on a point I made earlier in regards to the turkey scenario. Imagine you were able to bet daily with even odds whether or not a turkey was going to be butchered. You bet daily that it won't be butchered because that's the most likely outcome. You start with $100, and you bet 2%...

Let's say I have the opportunity to place a bet daily on whether or not the turkey was going to be butchered. I would bet a small amount of my capital every day that the turkey wouldn't be butchered because that's the most probable outcome. My account would steadily grow until the day the random...

A message to some day traders.

Basic logic tells you that the odds of a balanced coin landing on heads or tails is 50/50. Even if you flip it and it lands on heads 99 times in a row, the odds are still 50/50 that it will land on tails on the 100th flip. You are analyzing the trend that the coin has landed on heads 99 times...

He also said "It is not worthwhile to try to keep history from repeating itself, for man’s character will always make the preventing of the repetitions impossible." I have to assume based off this quote that he would've believed in studying the past as a way to predict the future.
