I was in a trade last NFP when that spike occurred. I did not have a hard stop on. I learned my lesson on a prior NFP when the same thing happened and I got taken out. I don't even recall seeing any comments on it on the Oanda forums.

Sure did. Haven't tried it yet but the Game version seemed to work good.

One thing I learned is to always book partial profits along the way. Nothing pissed me off more than being up on a trade and then giving it all back - it was worse than just being wrong on a trade. I guess being a short term intraday trader has its merits.

Also, you can simply open a sub account on your main account and freely move money around from your main account.

That's why I always set mine at 51pips!

Wow, some discussion. ssss makes no sense to me at all. His posts are like looking at an abstract painting of an abstract subject. As far as Oanda, I have all my FX money there as well. I keep toying with the idea of opening a fut account to trade the 6E but Oanda's flexible position...

I set mine above/below the last swing point. But I also will use the nearest sup/res level as well - perhaps a pivot, or the session open price, etc. Also, don't set your stop right at the exact point of the sup/res as price sometimes likes to test these areas without actually breaking them.

I like your idea. It would nice to trade in a room full of other FX traders, granted they knew how to trade.

Why don't you just get rid of your stops since they seem to be the cause of all your troubles? I'm not familiar with that min/max chart but the spread goes to 10 on the E/U during most major news releases, which appears to be the event that stopped you out.
