How are bids "queued" premarket? (shady execution at open)

Either what rb7 suggested or the MX's market maker allocation matching is set at 100%.

0 bid price on an option? (beginner)

SMB, you need to be more specific with your questions. Provide details of the stock, the expiration, the strike price. Otherwise you start these meandering threads that go nowhere.

bid/ask spread on a covered call

Right, my initial assessment was based on a t/v of ~1.725 leaning on the b/a, but I qualified my guidance with the note about the MM potentially fading the real value (ie: t/v 1.85 but making 1.50/2.00 to force offers lower). I still think my assessment holds true that any fill below 1.70 is...

bid/ask spread on a covered call

Any fill on that market south of 1.70 is terrible. Even if MM's are fading the real value, any fill north of 1.80 is great but unlikely. You should expect to get 1.75 best... 1.60 at worst if the underlying is as illiquid as the spread suggests.

How Oil Prices Are Held Hostage By Derivatives

This is one of the worst articles on oil derivatives I have ever read. I'm actually ashamed of myself for having read the entire thing.

Singapore – The Switzerland of Asia

Doing business in Thailand is fraught with issues - you need a local partner that takes equity, the laws are geared towards locals and give foreigners very little power, etc. Several of my colleagues own real estate or businesses in Phuket, Krabi, Bangkok. To your point about many of them...

Singapore – The Switzerland of Asia

Joe you seem to be looking in from the outside with very little context. Those Filipinio women get free housing and food, and additionally earn $6,000-12,000 SGD annually. The median household income in the Philippines is $7500 SGD. These women are typically uneducated and would not make...

Why are you so averse to IB? In this space, for the money, they are generally considered the best.

    Bloomberg Article: Commodity Traders

The article actually nails the market pretty accurately. Arbitrage is by no means dead, but it's not alive as it once was. That said, it's been a long-term trend since the spot market was first developed by Marc Rich in the 70s when he could make 15-25% yield per cargo. Rich spawned many...

Singapore – The Switzerland of Asia

I was at Raffles a few weeks ago for coffee with a client. I pass by it often but only step foot inside a few times a year for industry events or meetings. You get used to the heat/humidity fairly quickly. Plus it's the great equalizer since everyone is a victim of it.

Singapore – The Switzerland of Asia

Been living in Singapore for over 2 years now with no plans to leave. I've been all over the world and this is definitely my favorite city of them all. In the process of applying for PR with plans to eventually give up US citizenship. HK is a great place to visit, been there many times, but...

Looking for Propex and Singapore prop trading advice

Doubt you will find anything in Singapore. To get a work permit the firm would have to petition the MOM saying your skills are required and they can't find a comparable local candidate, then you'd have to officially become an employee. Best to just lever up and trade from Thailand.
