    Gold Hedging

Depends on the hedger, the market, and their credit agreements. Most banks link any loans with forced hedging of most, if not all, future production. More often than not producers simply sell futures or swaps forward; or they purchase outright puts, sell covered calls, etc. No one uses...

    But what about copper ?

Seems like you have lost your objectivity and are looking for anything to support your preconceived conclusion. Markets evolve. If the LME rule issue is so well known, then wouldn't you imagine this "shadow inventory" is also pretty well known and priced into the market?

Explain This Price/Volume Action - CL

All of these are dynamic in nature and fluctuate daily. When prices are high, producers hedge. When prices are low, consumers hedge. Meanwhile option market makers are laying off deltas on the screen as option flow arrives. Swap market makers are laying off risk in the futures as OTC order...

Record-level metals storage in ‘shadow warehouses’

First, the Kochs. Everyone's favorite enemy. Practically every other firm in the physical market was taking advantage of this trade, hardly just the Kochs. Freight rates went parabolic during the 07/08 contango and subsequently crashed 90+% when the curve flattened. Anyone who references...

    Natural gas is exploding

I think ON is the screen option and LN is strictly OTC or floor traded. I have never heard of an LN-trade being executed electronically. If you want access to the LN markets, you may need to set up an OTC/Clearport account with an FCM outside of IB.

Metals have always gone off-warrant when the curve or cost pressures dictate. This seems to be nothing more than a strategic response to LME rules.

HFT Pays: CEO Of Firm Selling His NY Mansion For $114 Million

What a misleading article. Vinny has been in finance for decades, and all ZH says about it is, "Although, in all fairness to Viola, he did serve as former Chairman of the NY Merc." He was Chairman (and major shareholder) of Nymex when they were establishing the Dubai Merc and before they...
