Trading is a Long Term Business

As I look at my trading P&L for the month, I am down. Actually, my trading equity hit its peak in June, so from that perspective I have been losing money for 3 months now. Imagine working for 3 months and having your boss tell you that you owe them money for your shoddy work, and they debited...

    Fixed Classic View option

Is there an option to view Elite Trader through the Classic view, the old style? This new ET look is horrible, The interface is user unfriendly, and the colors are all washed out. I don't know what the ET admins are thinking, I am sure most ET users don't like this new look!

    2014: The Battle for Survival

Looking at neke's track record, if we get any kind of equity volatility, he will be making loads of money. It is a difficult trading market right now. I wish neke had weekly updates, the monthly updates have kind of driven away a lot of followers due to inactivity.

    IB Exposure Fee

If this gives you stress why don't you use another broker? No one is forcing you to use IB. There are plenty of good brokers that dont charge an exposure fee. And IB will push the limits of their exposure fee to see how much extra profit it can extract from customers.

more or fewer technical traders than before

People often confuse a bull market for brains. Not saying that's the case here, but anyone with a long bias the last 2-3 years has made a lot.

    IB Exposure Fee

IB wants another source of profits. Under the cover of risk management, they are increasing their profits through extra fees. They will push the envelope of extra fees until traders start fleeing. From the look of the posts, it seems like no one will leave IB over exposure fees. People...

    IB Exposure Fee

    1. Most traders are too lazy to transfer assets to another broker and get used to another trading platform. 2. I am sure most traders here are trading equities, not futures or options so they won't be able to leverage enough to lose more than 100% with a 30% move. 3. Lastly, most ET...

OPtionshouse closed my expiring position without my consent

Read my post, I never said I know a broker that let's you leverage 40x. It is just not as dangerous as people think because the volatility in SPY is so minimal these days. Yes it is dangerous, but much less dangerous than using all your margin to buy or sell crude oil futures contracts, for...

    My Story- Lessons learned

This is an old message from back in 2006 that I just saw, and it reminds me of how crazy those markets in the 1990s and early 2000s were. Those were fun times, about as pure as capitalism and speculation gets. It also reinforces my belief that most people posting on ET don't have any clue...

    eurodollar and TED

Wow, you are entering the eurodollars and short term interest rate markets in one of the worst eras for that type of trading. With ZIRP, it has really taken a lot of the volatility out of the short end of the curve. Even the belly hasn't been active this year. It has been a totally different...

OPtionshouse closed my expiring position without my consent

With this kind of volatility, I would sleep very well even with 40X leverage on the SPY. Volatility is dead.

    IB Exposure Fee

Even during the teeth of financial crisis in 2008, SPX never went down more than 10% in one day. The crash of 1987 was down 22% in one day. Even in 1929, we never got anywhere close to down 30% in one day. Yes, it is crazy to put a 30% stress test, but I am sure the higher the %, the more...

    IB Exposure Fee

You guys are having to jump through hoops, running stress test simulations to see if IB will shaft you with a fee or not. Are good brokers that hard to find? There are plenty of good brokers out there, maybe slightly higher commissions, but with much better customer service, no Nazi type...

    Tim Sykes

Tim Sykes is the real deal, he makes money shorting penny stocks. It isnt really that hard to do, you just need to find a good broker for shorting OTCBB amd pinksheet stocks. Most brokers won't let you do it. Sykes is brash, but he knows what he's doing out there.

Why did ZB move while ZN did not?

Theoretically, that's true, but historically, ZB and ZN have moved nearly in sync, with ZB moving about 1.5 times more than ZN due to the extra duration. Only this year have you seen significant divergences from ZN and ZB, with ZB outperforming by a lot over ZN. A sharp flattening of the yield...

    IB Exposure Fee

Why would you want to trade at a broker that charges you an exposure fee? Are people really that brainwashed that IB is looking out for everyone's best interest here? It is all about adding to the bottom line at IB. I am sure they believe they can charge these added fees and traders will...

It's too bad neke has gone to monthly updates, keeps us guessing! LOL.

Why did ZB move while ZN did not?

The yield curve is flattening which causes ZB to massively outperform ZN. Mark Carney, BOE chair flat out said that rate hikes could come earlier than expected, which is rarely said by any central bank chair. This caused a reflexive selloff in shorter maturity bonds, especially the belly...

    2014: The Battle for Survival

neke is still on pace for a 80 percent return this year, why do the doomsayers suddenly crawl out of their caves aftes one bad month? Trading is a roller coaster, you cannot make money on every trade. There will be bad weeks, bad months, even bad years in this business. Those looking for...

Looks like Victor Niederhoffer blew up again

Niederhoffer's strategy is pretty basic isn't it. Buy on down days, and sell on up days. Why does he pull out all this irrelevant pseudo articulate material when his strategy is so simple. And when he buys and it keeps going lower, that's when he gets into trouble. Not really different...
