    Pure Oil Play

I am looking for something, other than the CL for a pure play on oil price. Leveraged is okay. Any suggestions. I saw ERY and ERX but they are comprised of companies plus they are 3x. The closet thing I could find is UCO. Any thoughts. Thanks

Is cash no longer fully insured in an IB account ?

The SIPC is merely covering their a$$ for a potential major event, like a eurozone collapse/recovery and they are letting everyone know now, who is on, might be on and not on the hook. 2012 will be a pivitol year. With the potential demise/ recovery of EURO/US,etc. economies the markets should...

    ES chart patterns

Who said I was a new trader? I have been trading stocks and options for 11 years. I just recently added the ES. I know plenty of chart patterns, etc. I was just seeing if I can learn something new. If I could gain one ounce of new info from 100 or 1 million posts i'll take it. I'm always...

Why would someone buy deep in the money call on dividend stock?

Some people will buy deep ITM calls because the delta is near 1. So one could get nearly a 1 to 1 move without having to dish out the full price of the stock.

Yes, that is what I meant.

    It's All GREEK To Me....

In it's basic form. For example, if HV is 46 and IV is 87 this should let you know the options are expensive. So if you are trading a event (like earnings) it is more than likely after the event there will be a volatility collapse (IV comes down) which can offset any gains you may have had in...

    It's All GREEK To Me....

At the very least keep an eye on IV/HV. At least you'll know if the options are expensive or not. This has helped immensely trading options on the greatest underlying ever, the beast BIDU. Knowing the Greeks isn't the holy grail but at least you would have a clue.

Brokers that are not into re-hypothecate stuff.

Also, those intraday margins are only for the first 25-50 contracts then the margins go up to 1k and so on, pending on who you go with.

Brokers that are not into re-hypothecate stuff.

Acct min's may be different but 400-500 intraday margin is common. Do some home homework before you open your dumbhole.

Brokers that are not into re-hypothecate stuff.

True. I clear thru AMP and I believe they don't trade for themselves either. One just has to get past their horrible customer service.

Global futures does not engage in proprietory trading either.

InteractiveBrokers "hyper-hypothecates" $14.5b of Customer Funds?

I wouldn't trust any firm right now. Like they would tell you they are on the wrong side of a bad trade with your money. Of course they are going to tell you everything is fine until it's not. The markets really didn't buy into Europe's "fix". I don't see countries giving up their soverignty...

Your are correct. I am actually looking for both entry signals and patterns. I just want to hear about what other people use and any techniques they may help.
