OK, here's my trades through 11:30 AM CST today. My first trade was a loss, I got in on the failed bottom. It was looking shaky and I had a chance to take a 6 tick profit, but I hesitated and the market jumped, so I just covered. Didn't take a full stop loss, so a 6 tick loss was not bad...

Max, here is my chart for this morning that I just set up. This is the 770 tick chart, but I pulled all the lines from the 2400 tick chart. I had to zoom way out on the chart so that you could see it all, but this should give you an idea of what I'm looking for. Notice the arrows all along...

John, that's why I use the 2400 tick chart. Usually you can see areas that have acted as both support and resistance, and often times, it may have repelled prices on several different occasions as either sup, res or even both. These areas are usually easy to spot and you will see a lot of...

Max, I agree 100%. I trade from a 770 tick chart, but I find my S/R and trendlines on the 2400 tick chart, then transfer them to my trading chart so that I see them without having to go back and forth. Once I start trading, I trade only from the 770 tick chart and no longer refer to any other...

I took another short at around 1:20 today and added another 12 ticks to my profit for the day. Again, I pulled out when it started to turn up. That turned out to be a good move this time though, because it pulled back hard, and the next swing down only got an extra tick or two, so I would have...

I agree here. Not to pick on you, but this is what I used to try and do.... trade the break outs. I was unsuccessful more times than not I might add. If you trade the break outs, you have to use large stops and be prepared for draw downs as well. Plus if you catch the last swing of the day...

More of the same today. No real break out yet, just a steady grind down around the LOD. I did get short on the pull back around 9:44 AM, and it was the best pull back of the day with the exception of the opening drop. I covered when it turned, but haven't found another decent entry point, so...

That's a good question, but one I'm not sure I can answer, as I haven't put much thought into it. My thought process is that many times you can get 6 ticks if you get a good entry, even if you get the direction wrong in the end. The idea is, get the 6 ticks and go to BE quickly to reduce risk...

Here's my chart, and as the previous poster said, these small break outs near the LOD seemed high risk to me, so that was exactly what I was thinking, therefore my hesitancy to jump on board again. I actually placed another limit order to short on the last leg down of the day, which would...

I had a decent day today, but made a mistake which cost me from making much more in the ES. I got in on the first break down this morning, and covered at the first pull back, right on schedule. I then made my mistake trying to get back on board again, and got my signal to go short at the...

One other thing I forgot to mention. The turn at the top would have actually been a great place for you to exit. You had just gone long off a LL, and now prices were making a LH, a sure sign the trend was turning down. Had you exited at that turn, you would have had a nice profit.

One thing I noticed when I opened your chart is that the area where you got stopped out was the value area of the trading day. Price is bouncing on both sides of that price level (1965) and always pulling back to it. You had a good entry and a good profit, so overall you had a very good start...

I had a losing day on Thursday as well, but I think I made progress still. I lost on my first trade out of the gate. I took the long on the last pull back after the high, and of course, that was the only one that failed that morning. I was late getting to my seat, so I didn't get to take the...

I agree with the support level being key. I took this trade as well, but only because it bounced at an area that I had marked as a major support area. When you get those false break outs, and then a higher high, if you get a higher low, that's a good long signal in most cases. As you...

I trade with AMP using their Global platform. (global is the same platform as Open E-Cry). I like it because I can trade directly from the charts, and using their strategy option allows me to automate the stops. Once in the trade, it's very simple to move the stops around with a drag of the...

I don't actually use the MA's for trading. They have been on my charts so long that I actually don't even notice them any longer, thus I didn't think about it when I posted the chart. I'll remove them before posting in the future. You are correct that the turns are not always spot on at the...

As you described, I got chopped to death as well. I actually made a little money in the afternoon, only to give it back at the close. I knew better than to take a last minute trade, but I was hoping the market would give me a little more. It was just not a good day for me. I need to be...

Like you, I saw the short set up, but could not bring myself to pull the trigger. I had some profit locked in already, and after watching this thing go up and up for two straight trading days, I was a little hesitant to get sucked into a bear trap, so I just sat and watched. I think that's...

There was no weakess today. If you had bought on the first higher low this morning, you could have hung on, moving your stop, even keeping it conservatively close, and still made 25 points. What a day! These are the days you just buy and hang on tight.
