Posted by TradeRX on 6/2/2001: "I'm relatively new to all this as you can tell from all my "what do you think about this chat room" type posts :-) I need some help from the experienced and the wise:" Thanks. ************************************************************ TradeRX, It's...

    July Trading Journals

TradeRX, Any fool can look at a chart after the day is over and say, "it ran up 2 points, then reversed and tanked 6 points, then reversed and went up 5 points!" The question is, can you predict these moves with great accuracy? Of course NOT! That's why you're just talking trash, trying to...

    July Trading Journals

TradeRX, You said, "When do I get out you ask? At the END OF THE TREND or at BREAKEVEN. Whichever comes first. I've been nailing DAILY (big) several point scores in stuff like QLGC, NVDA, SEBL, etc." ************************************************************ And exactly how do you...

    Stop Loss Question

First, you should be aware that there are no market orders on after hours trading. You can only exit your position with a limit order on one of the ECN's. This means you have to stay in front of your computer and monitor your position after hours as well. In general, trading after hours is...

    Easiest Stocks for New Traders!

P2, Without giving away your strategy, are you generally usig intra-day charts, or reading the Time & Sales to determine your entry/exit points when trading stocks like DIS? Also, on stocks like MO, DIS, F, etc., if you were to see a large bid or ask size, is that usually considered...

PLEASE HELP!!!How to incorporate all the TA and other stuff into sth meaningful?

It is my understanding that IB's 100 minimum share rule only applies to trading QQQ and SPY, but I could be mistaken. I thought the original post was stating that a new SEC rule prohibits market participation in under 100 share trades, which of course is not the case.

PLEASE HELP!!!How to incorporate all the TA and other stuff into sth meaningful?

Gepard, There is NO such rule about having to open NYSE/AMEX positions in round lots only. Think of someone wanting to invest in Bershire Hathaway, whose stock price is about $69,000/share. Do you really think the exchange would force someone to shell out $6,900,000 to open a round lot...

    my story

Without actually giving away your strategy, could you at least tell us what type of trades you're doing? I mean, are you strictly day trading, or swing trading as well? What is your typical point gain on a winning trade, etc. That would make your posts much more educational for everyone...

    my story

Dustin, Congratulations! Could you elaborate just a little bit on exactly what turned things around for you. What is your current trading plan? I assume that by now you do have a solid plan of attack. Thanks!

The proper way to pyramid into a position...

Thanks for the replies, but I was more interested in pyramiding into swing trade positions, where I would be trying to caputure $8 or more in profits. Praetorian2, your example was more of an inverted pyramid, since you start your position with a small number of shares and add on as the price...

The proper way to pyramid into a position...

I've read in a few places, including "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator", about the power of pyramiding into your positions. I would like some input on what the proper way to do this. From what I understand, the idea is to limit your initial risk, while at the same time maximising your...

    Stock halts

Babak, How many traders do you think will actually read throught a 100+ page court ruling that even experienced attorneys will graple to define in the coming months? Come on, this practice of halting stocks is just another gimmick for hurting daytraders under the pretext of "protecting" us.

    Stock halts

I also fail to see the necessity of trading halts, except in cases of fraudulent activity, such as the EMLX fake news wire. The logic is to give people enough time to absorb the news. What it really does is cause great instability in the stock's price. Most stocks end up gapping up/down...

    Which stocks to trade?

You don't need any software to alert you to chart patterns. You can easily scan 200-300 stock charts in about an hour. I'd say, you can generally see if there is any favorable pattern in about 3-5 seconds of looking at a chart. I'm referring to simple double top/bottom and channels. Plus...

Interactive Brokers has NO respect for your privacy!

Def, With all due respect, I already contacted a representative and I did convey my concerns to management via the suggestion e-mail. Of course I didn't expect the customer representative to place me on hold while he rewrote your company policy. However, the people I spoke with made it...

Interactive Brokers has NO respect for your privacy!

I just opened my IB account and I have yet to see if I'll be happy with my trading there. I am by no means paranoid, however I do oppose outright stupidity when it comes to security measures on customer accounts. The main reason I'm inclined to trade with IB, besides their low...

    Online Stock Screener

Does anyone know of a FREE online stock screener that would let me scan for the following: Price Average Daily Volume Average Daily Range I like the Silicon Investor and PCQuote screeners, but they don't allow me to screen for average daily range.

Interactive Brokers has NO respect for your privacy!

Zach, I was being ironic when I suggested they mail statements on postcards... just to illustrate that anyone could read it on the way to the user. lol ; ) I don't think it would be that expensive for them to implement a system where they just e-mail you a notification that...

Interactive Brokers has NO respect for your privacy!

That's what I'd like to know. I guess they don't really care because they have you sign all these waivers when you open the account.

Interactive Brokers has NO respect for your privacy!

Is it just me, or do any of you other IB customers mind receiving your monthly statements via regular e-mail??? I mean, come on! Anybody could capture, store, read, share, etc., that information before it gets to my computer. Included on the statement are my account #, balance, and...
