Some one on this site mentioned reading this book. I was in the same situation as you were and ironically it's what led me to quit my 9-5er and start trading full time. It's a book of about 50 peoples stories of how they ended up doing what they do for a living.

I shorted a stock a penny off it's high only to cover for like 8 cents. Then I bought the low a penny off the low but it was 2 separate trades :mad:

I've wondered the same thing and I've found that some guys trade very thin stocks and like to keep it that way.

So when people say they were profitable after 6 months, does that mean that they made money on their 6th month(but your account is still down net) or that your account was up from where you started? Meaning you started with 5k, droped to 2k and by the 6th month you were back up and over 5k.
