    How not to overtrade?

What are you trading? How often are you trading? Specifics would be helpful. For example, when trading the ES and CL, for my style of trading, I know there are only a handful of good moves each day. If I'm trading more than 3-5 times per day, I'm trading too much. I start each day with a...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

"Ring every alarm bell" is exactly right. Sign every petition you can find and contact your Congressional representatives. Call. Fax. Email. Be polite, but state your case clearly. The momentum is shifting away from this tax, but if we get complacent bad things will happen.

I am leaving this forum and a protest note

The First Amendment to the US Constitution says that the GOVERNMENT cannot abridge your right to freedom of speech. This forum is private property and therefore grants you no rights under the First Amendment. If you want to leave, that's your choice; but now you understand American freedom...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

I agree that Schumer is a chameleon (some might say a snake), but New York will be devasted if this tax passes. Politicians only care about two things: money and votes. He will lose both if he supports a bill that puts thousands of his constituants in the unemployment lines. As I said...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Senator Charles Schumer (D, NY) has come out strongly against the tax and, for the time being, appears to be standing his ground. If he doesn't change his mind, this will never even come to a vote in the Senate. Until this tax is declared dead, keep signing petitions and contacting you...

I dont understand americans, and how they think/

I think it's less a matter of fault and more a matter of being held responsible. When you spend two years campaigning and asking the American people for your vote, you're going to be held responsible for anything that people don't like and get credit for everything they do like. The same is true...

    Trading ES or YM

For my style of trading ES is more profitable and therefore better for me, but not necessarliy for you. It depends on your trading style. YM might be easier for a beginnner because there's not as much backfilling. I've also been trading CL (Crude Oil) the last year or so because there's less...

Please share your thoughts and experiences on daytrading from a high timeframe

I trade ES from 500 tick bars and CL from 200 Tick bars. I aso watch higher timesframes for market context (overall view), but I don't trade from them.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

He said you have to look at the spin, the posturing and everything else that goes on. There are a lot of representatives from districts with high unemployment and crumbling housing prices that will be up for re-election next year. They want to tell their constituants that they supported this...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

I just spoke to a friend of mine who works in DC for a large lawfirm that does a lot of work for the financial industry. He thinks that this bill will fly though the House with little if any debate. The Senate, he says, is another matter. He told me that Schumer's opposition is largely...

Please recommend an APC UPS battery

I have two APC 1300-XS battery back-up systems. Both are about a year old and I haven't had any problems with them. We had a power outtage a few days ago and both worked perfectly.

getting killed in commissions! best broker/way to lower commissions?

Sim trading is good practice, but don't be fooled by the results. If you're barely able to "eek out something" in sim, you'll lose money when you go live because you get better fills in sim that you do in real trading. Lower comissions are definitely a good thing, but they don't solve...

    Trader's International Scam????

How did you confirm: (a) that it's the same Erica Villalon? (b) that there was a conviction resulting from the issuance of the warrant? I'm not here to defend TI because I don't know anything about them. But it doesn't seem fair to lynch one of their employees without conclusive evidence.
