What does it cost to publish stock data?

What does it cost to publish stock data for the US on a public website (e.g. Yahoo Finance, Google finance, finviz.com etc)? In Europe this is around 1500$ per month for delayed and 3000$ for realtime.

Simple question: premarket trading and gaps

If the S&P500 future is down 1% at 9:29 ET, how will the S&P open (adjusting for the disparity between future and cash)? In other words how good of an indication is the pre-market trade and how much of an effect does the first minute of trading have?

Simple question: premarket trading and gaps

How good is the indication of premarket trading for the actual open on the S&P500? Does anyone have a link / study on this? Thanks.

    Prop trading (Black box)

Hmm, so is GMA a solid quirky plattform or buggy? The docs looks rudimentary. "ECHOtrade is home to some of the premier automated traders in the industry. " If that is so I wonder why they don't offer other plattforms.

    Prop trading (Black box)

I am currently based in Europe and thinking about moving to Canada to trade for a prop firm. I trade fully automated, mostly small- and midaps. Echo and Bright get mentioned often as two very respected firms. However, I am bit disappointed by the comments on the infrastructure. There is a...

    open auction fills

I have been thinking about this. To answer the question: as with any auction, your decision will be based on some kind of trade-off between the probability that the order will get filled and the price. If you absolutely want to get filled you enter a market order or a limit order which is...

Margining system at prop shops for small caps

Trying to figure out how this works... So what you are saying is that the equity of the trader is subject to some internal margin-system? For example, very simply put, if the firm has 1M$ and 10 traders, each one of the them gets 10% = 100k buying power? But if the firm itself uses outside...

Margining system at prop shops for small caps

Hello, what kind of margining-system to "typical" prop shops have with regards to smaller stocks? For example IB uses as a general rule that stocks below 250M$ marketcap are not marginable. I would think that a good risk-management system uses other factors such as volume, %float, etc. as...

    Tsla

Make a prediction for sales / reservations and we will compare. 11k are reserved and 5k will be delivered. What is your guess for total sales by end of the year? My number: 30k, which would mean they would sell 2013's production by the end of this year.

Very aggressive short covering IMO. Risk reward for the shorts very bad now.

34$ mark. Could be huge the next days. Early delivery shows a lot of confidence. Shorts be aware.

Just did. See below. Question with regards to price is really: how much impact do the short-sellers have? Although short ratio is very high, the stock did well since the IPO. And of course: what is a proper valuation? Sales growth this year will be 160% and next year 200%+ and will likely...

nursebee, good call. I was surely the announcement that they will ship in June, one month early. First off, it's 50k to 70k. Secondly, fuel cost are 1/10 of that of a gasoline vehicle. Thirdly, model S is obviously not in the price competition business. But very few cars actually are. Why do...

I rather see a downmove for today. Negative earnings are always a good reason to sell. The shorts will not believe until we see the sales and eventual profits rolling in. This is very easy money over 1-2 years IMO. Valuation is not aggressive at all. 30x 2013 earnings, with massive growth rates...

    Anyone touching GMCR?

Wow! Speaking of insider selling. Looks like major trouble ahead for the company I would think. Accounting issues will come home to roast at one time. http://blogs.marketwatch.com/thetell/2012/05/08/green-mountain-chairman-hit-with-margin-call/ Green Mountain chairman hit with margin call...

    Anyone touching GMCR?

Don't think so. They entered the position at around 100$ a share. Which means at 40$ the return is increasingly small. Perhaps they added to it, but I would guess not. I shorted at 90$ and got out at 45$. Since Einhorns Lehmann call his short picks are a good catalyst, although with Joe it did...

    Seagate

A few datapoints * Seagate delivered a huge beat on April 17. Earnings per share came in at $2.64, crushing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 26%. * the 2013 avg estimate is now $8-9, highest estimate 12$ * Seagate has generated $1.3 billion in free cash flow over the last 9 months and...

    Experienced trader

efinancialcareers ist pretty good. Some countries have registers of investment and / or trading companies where you can find out which firms there are (for example Eurex members are in many different countries). Otherwise there are quite a few head hunter out there. However, in the current...

Did Altucher fail as a trader?

I'm sorry, I could have used other words. I just don't understand why somebody with a repuation would write such an article, about such a speculative stock. Even if it is a good investment, to many it will appear to be not well intended (or perhaps it's just me). Someone posted this in...
