    UK/Euro based equities broker

Hi, I am looking into trading US stocks using a UK broker as I live in the UK. Am I right in the assumption I will not be subject to the PDT rule? Given this is true what kind of leverage could I expect and what commissions/fees should I be looking for? Say I have a 10k account I would...

Is volatility going to dry up like 2005?

Yeah it will, I just go back from 2015 and not much happened from now till then. Point is this, other global events could happen any-time and give the markets a shot of adrenaline. If you trade a wide variety of uncorrelated instruments some are bound to be moving a lot of the time.

$25,000 minimum for daytrading needs to be changed

So newbie raises 20k from family/friends then blows that, now they are in debt. Better to let someone blow a small amount before they realise they aren't going to be successful.

$25,000 minimum for daytrading needs to be changed

I see, so someone with 25k or more to trade magically becomes a better trader than someone with 10k. Seems arbitrary to me, how did they come up with 25k what's the reasoning?

$25,000 minimum for daytrading needs to be changed

Are you saying this because of the PDT rule? Or because of the cost of trading represents a large proportion of your position on a trade?

$25,000 minimum for daytrading needs to be changed

So your logic is , I can't day trade a small account therefore nobody else should be allowed to? I would think there have been a few traders who have successfully taken a small account to over 25k, however I agree is easier to start with a decent nut.

$25,000 minimum for daytrading needs to be changed

Does this law only apply in USA? I am from UK so if I choose a UK broker that allows me to trade US equities, will I still have to follow this silly rule? If so I guess I can trade CFD's?

$25,000 minimum for daytrading needs to be changed

Wikipedia page has this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pattern_day_trader If you buy the same stock, at 3 different times in the same day, and close all of that same stock in one trade, that will be considered 3 day trades. The next day trade in the next 4 business days will freeze your...

$25,000 minimum for daytrading needs to be changed

Does the PDT rule apply to one stock? So I trade ABC one week (once) and XYZ the same week, does that count?

    $25,000 to daytrade US equities

Regarding the rule, if you trade a basket of stocks but never the same stock in the same week twice, are you still deemed by the rules to be a PDT?

    Ruby programming

I would advise using C++, its the standard for writing automated systems for a number of reasons. If you have to use a toy language that is "easier" to develop in but makes you latest quad core run like a 386 then you should hire a real programmer.
