Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

I agree with you completely regarding the dynamic nature of the market etc. But I think that is precisely why price action is the best method to trade. It's not about "My woodies indicator has crossed the MA so buy!" its reconising patterns that occur in price over and over, like trends...

Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

Why don't you email and ask him? What's that got to do with this thread or his book. Can I ask how long you tried to trade using PA in Al Brooks style?

    10,000 hour rule

The rule states the average person needs 10k hours to become an expert. It roughly works out 5 years full time study. I started researching trading in 2007 and now have 5 years experience in trading. Heres how it breaks down 9000 hours, reading trading forums/articles etc 500 hours...

Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

Without knowing when to enter a trade having good trade/money management and a sound psychology will not help you become profitable. These other disciplines are required to let your edge play out, yes, but you need the setups in the first place. I do believe though identifying setups...

How much money is enough for you ?

Before even going full time I would want to be making double what I earn in my day job, so I could still compound up, I don't see the point in trading but not compounding as long as the volume is there? As my account increased I would decrease my risk and return. The dream is to make a few...

    Instrument for late US session

Ok nazzdack, Chicago is Central Time? Even better means it closes 9:15pm here so I can catch the entire afternoon from 1:30pm onwards. I always thought I would have to work from home or quit my job (Not likely) to day trade but it seems not. :D

    Instrument for late US session

Thanks for that brownsfan, I can probably start at 6pm UK time (1pm NY time) so can trade the NY afternoon. Just checking to see if it was possible before embarking on a long sim and research phase. I think this should give at least one decent opportunity for a day trade. Regards Mark

Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

Thanks for all the replies folks, I am still waiting for the book to be delivered. But I am printing out the ES 5 min chart each day and looking at it looking at what happens before a move. Will be doing this then sim trading for the next few months at least.

Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

Why would seeing his P&L affect understanding his books? He will never show you it so you are wasting your time. To imagine he wrote books intentionally bad as a tactic to deceive is a bit of a stretch of the imagination. I think you are becoming paranoid. Leave the rest of us to form...

Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

No, and I think he acknowledges the first book was difficult, so his next 3 try to address that. I will be able to judge in a few days.

Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

Would seeing he was successful make you able to understand his books? Maybe his books require a bit of work to understand, in fact to me that is a good sign it has some meat.

Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

I am not a book critic nor a literature professor so would be looking to judge it based on the depth of knowledge it displays. I have read many trading books that are well written but are shallow and are simply rehashes of other trading books.

Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

I have noticed your replies in other Al Brooks threads and have to wonder if you are coming to it with too little experience, or are expecting a trading plan handed to you on a plate. I am under no illusion that reading a book will make you a profitable trader, there has to be hard work and...

    Instrument for late US session

Hi, I am looking at potential instrument I can trade, however I work full time in the UK and can only trade in the evenings (from 7pm-Midnight UK time) which is 2pm - 7pm EST. The forex market seems to go to sleep around this time, wondering if any futures markets had good movements during...

Al Brooks - Trading Price Action Trends

Hi Folks, I am in the process of papertrading and developing a trading plan, and looking at getting to know price action in a deeper way (I have read Martin Prings work previously), and Al Brooks seems to have a good knowledge. I have purchased his latest book "Trading Price Action...

Lucias, Thanks for that, I have an account with etx capital which is a spread betting firm. I guess that is the best bet until I see my systems have a positive expectancy. Thanks
