    Is China crashing?

From: http://www.minyanville.com/articles/Fed-China-Correlation-Credit/index/a/12859 "The reason correlations are creeping up is that the rally is not being led by investors buying individual stocks, it is being led by index buying. I see a large and unnatural buyer (the buyer wants to pay...

Another dip, another chance to make $$$

"What makes me worried is that everyday you hear talk of the risk of a meltup -which means we are probably looking in the wrong direction... Exactly, can you say, market must capitulate before bottom is in -- circa 2003 Never happened.

    backtesting trading systerms

That's a great example. I was looking at covel's book, with a bunch of curves showing at least double the performance of b/h. The methods were proprietary and didn't indicate impact of taxes. In reality you have to take out tax on every short term gain, which about cuts those curves in half...

    backtesting trading systerms

Curtis' site was pretty useful. Thanks Makloda. They are discussing mechanical systems the way that they should be approached IMO. And it pretty much cooberates what i was seeing; 3.5 ATR on long term systems (like ma cross) is much worse then 7-8ATR (or essentially no ATR stop as ATR>8 pretty...

Fantastic Quote From Cnbc Just Now

Doesn't this sound suspiciously like the same arguments waiting for the ultimate capitulation before and after 2003 bottom. It's gotta capitulate on large vol before we see the bottom. Now, it's 2007 new high, and it's gotta meltup before we see the top. Let's all get our indicators...

Commercials sitting on largest net long SP500 Future position in years

True, although the reduced volatility increases the likelihood of a "thief in the night" style black swan event IMO. http://www.financialsense.com/Market/daily/tuesday.htm

Commercials sitting on largest net long SP500 Future position in years

Precisely reiterating a prior post i showed... "About the only argument that convinces me on the bull side (aside from price action), is that there are a few entities with extremely deep pockets that are using derivatives to push buying power into the markets on an unprecedented scale...

    deleting threads?

I notice that i have no problem editing or creating threads in a 30 min window, however, whenever I decide to delete a thread i started, I do not get permission. It says something like you do not have permission to delete this thread because you are not owner. Yet, I have permission to...

    backtesting trading systerms

I posted this in automated trading but figured this might be a better place. ------------------------------------------------ For the old timers here. Are there any good threads that simply look at long term mechanical systems and compare metrics (CAGR, Drawdowns, num. trades, etc.) I...

    Dan Zanger traders

" I think I'd opt to worship Zanger before Livermore, or Buffett, or Lampert, or Dennis or Elliot, or Gann.. Though Paul Tudor Jones and/or Seykota, would make pretty good false idols." His main approach was to fully max out on margin on high flyers and compound those returns fully...

    Breakdown about to occur

no way fed rate cut is happening until AFTER market tanks (ok, so very low probability based on past data). Why cheerleaders keep clamoring for rate cuts is beyond me. They ignore data pointing to recession when it comes to setting market outlook, then spin it back negative when chanting for...

How can I become better in economics?

IMHO one of the better books to come along in awhile that explains (or at least tries to make sense of) modern economics is "The Origin Of Wealth" by Beinhocker It's not an academic text, but it has a more modern slant, including ideas about how non-linear dynamic feedback systems and game...
