What specific aspects of price action do you consider to be evidence of complacency?

So far, looks like maybe I'll owe you the beer. Up a point since I re-entered. I've raised my stop to 848.30. I'll need to be out by close because I'm out-of-pocket (in an airplane) all day tomorrow. EDIT: Okay, I'm out of ER2 at 849.80 and done for the day. Nice day, indeed! Many thanks...

Stopped out of ES at 1532.75 for +2.75. Just re-entered ER2 long at 848.50 (small position) because Apex asked me to. If this one doesn't work out, he's going to owe me a beer. :)

Okay, Apex, but only because it's you! :) What ever happened to "it's never too soon to take a profit"?

I reached my PT on the ER2 and sold out at 848.60 for a nice gain (I'll do the match later). Now turning attention to my long ES position... EDIT: Raised my ES protective stop to 1532.00 and will trail it up from here to aboid getting caught in a downdraft. However, after repeated bounces...

ES retesting 1533 resistance now. If we get above that, the longs may end the day smiling. EDIT: Once again, bounced off 1533.00 right to the tick. EDIT: And one more time, bounced off 1533.00 right to the tick. About to try it again. Ya gotta give the bulls an "E" for effort, anyway.

For a confirmation to go long, wait for a price above the high of the last completed bar in a series of bars with monotonically non-increasing highs. Like this:

Nice! I messed up and took my eye off the ER2...in the next room sending someone a FAX...and my automated trailing 2-point stop took me out of my ER2 long at 846.30 for a 1.7-point gain. Looking to re-enter long again as soon as there's a confirmation. Man oh man, does the ER2 move fast...

Amazing! Before I saw your post, I'd just entered ER2 long at 844.60 with a atop of 843.90. Either you're radiating a lot of psychic energy, or your thought processes are starting to rub off on me. (I hope it's the latter.)

Apex, did you go long ER2 as well, or just ES?

He didn't see it as more-risk free, but as riskier (hence the wode stop). He just didn't want to risk missing the move. Obviously a tough call either way.

Wow! That's an uncharacteristically large stop for you, isn't it? You been watching Oscar's videos or something? :D I set my stop at 1528.00, which was the bottom of both the 5- and 15-minute bar preceding confirmation. I'll think about whether I need to move it down.

Where's your stop? P.S. NYSE A/D ratio starting to go up after reaching the lowest level seen in quite awhile.

Apex, when looking for a 5- or 15-minute confirmation of a turn for a long entry, do you consider completion of a bar with a higher high (after a series of bars with monotonically non-increasing highs) to be adequate confirmation?

Looks like you're going to get your preferred entry. Thanks for the wise advice to wait for a 5- or 15-min confirmation before entering. I did...wait, that is. :)

How would that work (uness you mean PnF charts)? Doesn't the horizontal distance depand on the particular bar width you're using? How do you translate x bars horizontally into an equivalent price movement vertically? There's something you've not told us.

Stopped out at break-even. NYSE A/D turning up. I'm staying flat until I figure out which way the wind is blowing and find a decent entry one way or the other.
