For those that are interested RedOption has a relatively inexpensive advisory service with a good track record for calendars, diagonals, and similar strategies.

    Calendar Spreads

by request, here's a calendar spread thread. The purpose of this thread is to learn, explore, share and trade and Calendar Spreads. I am not a broker. I am just - a guy. I'm not an expert and am not the best trader in the world. I do more diagonals than straight calendars. So save...

I'm curious Coach, How much better have you done with this formula than say using 3 month treasuries, which have next to no risk?

Don't let naysayers get to you. Just ignore them. Don't let them "get your goat". You have a reasonable idea and a good methodology to evaluate it. So let's see if it works. Noone has to use real money. You've said that. Let's see what the system says! Gator

This whole series of comments is interesting. Go back in the chain, and you'll find comments that OX had better fills than TOS. Many people complained to TOS (me included). They seemed responsive. Unfortunately, it all comes down to the vagaries of these pit traded securities. Just wish...

Making Mad Money with Jim Cramer

You have a great idea on an interesting thread. It'll be important to watch over time!!!! You started the thread on a date with a highly trending market, so naturally you are going to have more long winners than losers. I'll be fascinated to see your long term results. The...

Phil, I went the other way, long SPX 1205C, short weekly 1205C. With the low volume, didn't find much willingness to negotiate between the b/a. Have you found this? That may be a big issue as try to close out shortposition at end of week, if desired. Gator

I have traded commodities before, though not successfully. I found XpressTrade to be very accomodative, and able to trade almost all commodities. IB does not sell most agriculturals.

I wonder how all those guys who were so vocally in opposition to credit spreads are doing with their call debit spreads they bought. I'm thinking PAIN! I'll stick to what I know. Like to learn more. Like how to have done a debit put play.

I think a good discussion of hedges for that trade is in order now, with SPX at 1185. Warning flags are up, if only slightly.

I use OX and TOS both. I've never really noticed much difference. But I would definitely use the cancel/replace thing. I've not used TOS webtrader much. Frankly it's a little hard to read. Their platform is great. If you're doing webtrading only, not at your own desk, I think I'd stay...

I'm watching the XSP vs SPY. Is there a difference in how they will be settled? There is a skew in pricing.

Another thing you can do is cancel and replace your order. As orders get older, they scroll down the screens. They aren't as quickly noticed as they scroll near the end of lists. Hence the faster fills of my more recent orders.

Call down to the desk and tell them to goose the order desk. I've been filled for 17 contracts.
