Can you collect unemployment while trading?

It doesn't matter. Income is determined by the IRS not the state. If you have earned income you cannot apply for unemployment in ANY STATE. Earned income is from a job. Day trading is a job if you devote more than 500 hours in a calendar year. The same is true with rental property...

Can you collect unemployment while trading?

You cannot collect umemployment if you have a job. You do not have a job day trading unless you devote at least 500 hours to it and earn an income. It doesn't matter which state you are from that is what it takes to become employed without a salary.

The federal government determines what is, or is not income. It supercedes all state laws.

Legally, you can up to the point where you have invested more than 500 hours from trading. Once you pass the 500 hour limit it would be illegal to collect unemployment.

Can you collect unemployment while trading?

Income from trading is not "passive income". Having money that is invested and maintained by another party IS passive income. The IRS defines passive income as indicated below. 1. Trade or busines activities that you DO NOT materially participate during the year. 2. Rental activities...

Learning to read Price Action with P&F Charting

I have no clue what one can reasonably expect. It depends on your timeframe, your signals, your targets, and your patience. This is a trend following system. When the market is trending you will make good money, when it's not you won't. It isn't different than any other type of trend...

No, I don't use any leverage. Why? Because I don't need or want to. I am at an age and financial condition where protection of assets is by far the most important aspect of my trading. I want consistent returns above the market. I'm not out to set any records, or win any contests.

    Maintaining discipline

This journal could have been my journal about 8 months ago. You are looking for action instead of good trading opportunities. This is extremely dangerous, believe me I know. I finally just got tired of using my gut to get on board what I perceived as a freight train. We trust our GUT too...

BMW and Mercedes Buyers See a Ford in their Future (Bloomberg)

That has not been my experience at all. BMW truly is the ultimate driving machine. They are the only cars I have ever owned that I truly enjoyed drving. Dependability was there as well. Only in the shop for scheduled maintenance and drove them over 150,000 miles.

Learning to read Price Action with P&F Charting

Absolutely pathetic day. I had 3 contracts on a terrible risk-reward play. Lost 1100 dollars and fought my way back to -245.10. I traded 12 round trips. This was really an easy day, and there was absolutely no excuse to lose money today.

SPLS is a perfect example of why I like to look at charts as opposed to using a scanner. Here you have a chart about to potentially breakout. It is close to its long term bullish support line, so either way a breakout should be significant. You want to have your order in before it breaks out...

Absolutely. A breakout up or down at that point in the chart would be significant.

I never short a stock above the bullish support line.
