    Hello All, Chicago Newbie here

A few things that might be helpful... - Find a style of trading that matches your personality. - Keep good records. They will be extremely important to you in the future. - Like VTI0990 said, just focus on a single pair (e.g. EURUSD) and learn it like the back of your hand.

IB refuses to answer problem ticket so how about you guys???

Let me know what you find out JK124 because I think I've had a similar issue for quite a while (IB said to just ignore it by unchecking "Show FX positions" and "Warn on exit with position"). For months now, I have shown a 1643 long EURUSD on IDEALPRO (and Current Initial Margin at 0.00)...

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Update for week ended 2/15/2008. Nothing really to speak of - not much trading this week. I did some looking back this week and I think people really underestimate the importance of sticking to a schedule or routine. What I have seen in myself is that if I sit down and try to trade at times...

I don't know naked1... you've got 11 posts under your belt since you started this thread 1.5 hrs ago. I think that you just might qualify for "douche bag" status.

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Update for week ended 2/8/2008. Was in Las Vegas Tues through Thurs so I must have had gambling on the brain and not trading Monday morning. I put on a couple lotto trades (I did come to my senses and close them) and rolled over a losing position from Monday to Tuesday. Completely shitty...

    Consistancy is for Looosers

I totally agree with Chewy and RM - every once in a while everything comes together for a great harvest. Grab it with both hands while you can, then go back to grinding it out the rest of the time.

    Browser?

I have grown dependent on Firefox's wide variety of add-ons. My favorites include: WebMail Notifier, Fox Clocks, Better Gmail, Internote, and Forcastfox. However, certain websites do render better using Internet Explorer, so I utilize the IE Tab to solve that issue.

    Death by 1000 Cuts

Are you using a trailing stop in the hope of a big move? I only ask, because I feel that a target is half of the balancing act (the other half being a stop) and without a target the only thing you have to think about is the stop. Regret about taking profit too soon can be dangerous. If...

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Thanks. I am working hard on sticking to the schedule - only trading during a set time and not worrying about the market the rest of the day.

What is the most "EXOTIC" Place you have ever placed a trade from??

Closed some forex positions using GoToMyPC (to access my home computer in Chicago) from an old desktop in a friend's apartment in Nanchang China. Not "exotic" but it got the job done.

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Update for week ended 1/25/2008. Really got into the flow and was able to hit some home runs on Monday and Tuesday - I certainly don't expect this all the time, but it is nice when everything falls into place. Wasn't able to trade the last few days of the week because of prior work...

Video of a trader blow up Today, NSFW lol

I feel terrible for the guy because I know the agony he is going through. He appears to have a decent head on his shoulders, he just made a series of errors that under normal conditions he was probably able to get away with in the past. We always need to remember that anything is possible, and...

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Update for week ended 1/18/2008. Had my first losing day this year and stopped when I caught myself putting on some revenge trades trying to make the day profitable. Struggling may or may not be the right word, but everyday I remind myself to take it one small step at a time. I am at the...

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Update for week ended 1/11/2008. Two days this week my first 3 trades were losers and for some reason it bothered me more than before - I seemed to have been thinking more about P/L than I should have. Other times I was a bit aggressive with my positions - opening when the trend was too...
