    Simulated Forex Daytrading 2008

Keep your head up, shit does happen (trust me). You know what the next step is - scale down or stop until those trades no longer bother you and you understand why things fell apart so quickly.

    Simulated Forex Daytrading 2008

Time stops are equally important as pip stops - if it doesn't go your way within a certain time (2 or 3 candles, etc) it is good to get out. It is a frustrating feeling, as you found, to get stuck waiting for something to happen in a sideways move - just exit and move on to a better setup...

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Right - along those same lines, I used the indicators as my structure while trading, something to give me a sense of security (albeit false) in an random place. Because of the rigidity, I would not get a lot of setups, which is OK, but I would open too many revenge trades when those few setups...

    Forex Brokers

IB is good (~0.5-1.0) and Oanda is fine (0.9+). EDIT: IB you've got the spread plus min $5.00 commission.

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

I just use 2-17" Samsung LCDs, so 4 charts at the same time is the most I am comfortable with. One screen is for charts, the other is for order entry and monitoring. Charting is the thing I like least about Oanda. There is really no flexibility... times are rigid (1, 5, 15, 30 min) and I...

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Update for week ended 4/11/2008. Increased the position size up to 5K this week. Since moving the account over to Oanda, I'm not able to customize the charts the way I had and prefered with IB+SC, so my setups aren't always as clearly defined. To compensate, I am watching 4-5 pairs instead...

    Trading part time

I wake up a 3 hours earlier than I need to for work. This gives me a good 2.5 hrs and a set trading time every day. EDIT: Those 2.5-3 hrs are the only time that I try to think about trading. This works better than trying to fit sporadic times into the day for a quick scalp. If you're going...

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

It's nice to have a summary journal here at ET - there are many respectful traders here with excellent insight. At the same time others can learn from my mistakes and see the struggles (and $$$) a person goes through to learn such an "easy" profession. :) Looking forward to you starting up...

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

I appreciate that dejatrader. This last loss wasn't the largest, but it was the most painful for me and I now know what it feels like to be broken. I wanted to run and hide and change everything - but I've never wanted to give up. I re-evaluated everything in the hopes of finding something I...

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Update for week ended 4/4/2008. Quiet like last week, but felt good - and was able to catch myself in the process of some bad trades. Been 3 weeks on this 1K position size, so I will increase to 5K next week.Date P/L Pips Range Size W L S Monday, March 31, 2008...

BNB Anaytics and Trading Education has a new co-anchor on deck!

I try not to poke fun at people, but OMFG... BNB or Spirit or Jay or whatever-the-fuck-it-is is a total nut job!!! Hell, even the mouth-breathers at that genmay.com forum agree.

Keep your position size down until you quit trying to make up the loss.

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Update for week ended 3/28/2008. Pretty quite week but wasn't letting trades run too long for some reason. Wasn't feeling real well so that probably had something to do with it - so I cut back. Planning on continuing the tiny position size next week.Date P/L Pips...

    Turning full-time...

shabushabu, don't make the mistake of adding more money into your account in an attempt clear up your draw-down. This won't help - just take it one day at a time and watch your position size. Good trading.

    Pairs for a new trader

I would recommend you only focus on just a single pair for at least 6 months. Get to know it like the back of your hand... what news typically affects it, what times are good, etc. Once you are comfortable, move up to 2 pairs. Depending on what times you plan to trade, you'll typically find...

My Goal for 2008: Trading to Trade Well

Update for week ended 3/21/2008. I've cut down the position size to almost nothing - so I am essentially paper trading. I wasn't perfect this week, but overall I'm very happy. Monday I made a ton of trades (compared to usual) because I came out swinging and said "I will love losers" and put...

    Blubaru's Trading Journal

As much as I dislike paper trading, it is the most profitable thing you could be doing at this point. Remember - it can get worse. Good luck.
