Where does one work after trading?

The best is to go in the wealth management, financial adviser path. You at least know something about the markets and can guide people on their investing journey. The problem with WM is that it's basically sales and you have to get a client base, and that's hard with all the competition out...

    I just have one question

It's going to hit 15k. I'm more surprised how quickly it's gone up.

Good to see you back in the thread game btw, you shouldn't have ended the last one, it was just the usual back and forth

    Does automated trading really work?

Automated trading is a lot like manual trading; there are some good traders/systems and many mediocre to poor ones. To get an idea, go to collective2 and see what's around. Though collective2 probably doesn't have a standout system.

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

Honest question: why are so many in this thread rooting for Surf's failure? One of the many complaints on this site is that people are not open about whether they are profitable or not and what strategies they use. We have very few people who'll give their actual pnl, Atticus and maybe a few...

    The 10,000 hour rule.

+1 --- trading can really be a black hole of time. You can spend years and still not figure anything out that'll be profitable. You have to hustle and really concentrate on figuring out things that'll work. Trading is not like a musical instrument where you put in time to reach a certain level...

    Intuition Amplifiers 2

I'm not going to comment about every bank, fund, etc. Intuitively, what you say seems cogent. However, surf, you know when you look at a chart that fibs, pivots, the multitude of indicators are respected at some points. The area where TA fails is that you don't know when it'll be respected or...

    Intuition Amplifiers 2

Thanks again for reposting this! A lot about trading is to determine what's going to happen next. After you enter your trade, you are at the mercy of other market participants who enter a trade after you. The question is whether based on all available data you can determine what people will do...

    Elite posting rate plunges

This is still the best trading forum out there. Traderslaboratory and trade2win have even less traffic and are noob/fx focused. BMT bans people left and right, sometimes for very minor stuff. Maybe it's that trading is dying, but ET is probably as good as it gets.

Get Rid Of All FOREX Threads Now

This is an interesting thread, surf. Missed it before. In a way, it's sort of comical since both traderslaboratory and trade2win are much more fx focused. Trade2win is actually sponsored by a fx service. Elitetrader is actually very good with its content and not focusing on fx. Why it's the...

Why is a Declining US birthrate bad? seems to make sense to me.

I'm surprised you wrote this, considering (from my memory) you were married and have kids yourself.

Why is a Declining US birthrate bad? seems to make sense to me.

+1 -- more than half the kids born to women under 30 are out of wedlock. 20 years from now that'll have a very profound impact on society. Even right now, people aren't getting married anymore. Under half of people 25-35 are married, which is the prime ago for forming families. As you noted...

    CTA 2013?

I've never understood why regular investors would invest with CTAs; futures really are too leveraged for the common investor, best to stick with similar ETFs.

Fed Reserve profits are the fastest growing revenue source for govt

If we're going to have a socialist government, we might as well have it become an economic actor. Cut down the debt and maybe cut taxes down the road as well!
