Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

I didn't compare. I said the shortest trend is from last close to next open. And what is a trend btw? Isn't it dy/dt from t0 to t1? I don't think we are on the same page so I'll pass.

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

OG, Daily OHLC shortest possible trend? Last price is close. Next possible price would be the opening of the next day so there you are, last close to next open.

Volpri, I use volume bars,12k & 3k for ES roughly equivalent to 3min & 0.7s, to trade so it always catches up with the mood of the market whether it's fast or slow. With your software platform, using the chart calculator tool with number bars option enabled, one would see the same timing...

Volpri, That's an interesting book you mentioned. I hope you don't use this to look for the timing of your trades. :D Kidding aside, do you employ his cycles idea in some visual ways because I know wave equations & phase permutations are a very complex subject and anything that goes up and down...

You guys blowing out your accounts left and right

Good spotting, sys. The way he said things & his charts (in a very small numbers) tell me that he's very good at methods similar to Al Brook, especially at micro channel momentum trading. If one can spot the momentum well, the stop could be put aggressively under the break out bar.

Hmm. 4 long trades during RTH and no shorts. Based on my imaginary theories & principles on highly percentage winning trades, I think you missed the 5th one. What happened? Your wife drove you under the bridge? PS: Btw, that executions.:wtf:

Thanks Volpri. I do appreciate what you have written here. And thanks to syswizard for asking the questions. I'm pretty much a lurker but it strikes me that you talk like Al Brook using the same principle on market, stop loss & dynamic recognition of the current bar forming. Maybe different...

Is volume analysis useful in index futures?

Volume, tick and time are the partial derivatives of a function price. As w/ all partial derivatives equation, you can take them to zero to trade w/ the other. If you can use all 3s, more power to you.

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

I'm strictly using chart. You need a reference to start w/ and that depends on the time frame you want to trade within. For me, my reference is the last 2 days & today. I also have hr chart w/ weekly & daily range & swing hi-lo up so I am aware whether I trade counter trend or not that I can act...
