I made my last 438 k mortgage payment just now. My bank doesn't seem happy.

My dad is a CFP/CRPC and I have never heard him utter anything like that. Sounds like you have received bad advice from someone looking to take advantage of you unfortunately.

    OEC/Tradestation EasyLanguage Strategy

Nice work in theory is as far as you can go right now. You need IMO a MUCH MUCH MUCH larger sample size. And laying 10 lots in the ES is too much risk for a $10,000 start account size. Welcome to the next 100,000 hours of the biggest headache of your life.

Average daily profit with $50K account?

Does anyone actually have any risk management skills on this board anymore? What are you risking for that $400/day with that $50,000? 99% of you have never and most likely will never have the game for futures markets. If this board is a reflection of the greater percentage of people that...

Average daily profit with $50K account?

Listen At 280 trading days $400 per day is over $100,000 a year. You should make sure to stick all your $hit in a mutual fund as well because you don't have a chance. Might as well mail a check to JP and GS and save yourself the week of blowing up your $50 G's.

This VIX sell off is overdone!

I am guessing this is actually the start of the next phase of the selloff in the VIX and gains in the market. The last real technical crash in 72-74 showed the same movement and at around this point in the rally in previous it jumped quite a percentage (stock market). VIX most likely IMO...

    Financial Advisor Compensation

I dont know if I would agree with all of that. My dad is a private wealth planner and he is more concerned about wealth preservation and helping you efficiently tax plan your estate. He gets 2% and commissions, but commissions usually aren't much IMO (unless there is a big LI policy or...

Risk reward ratio and winning odds

Yeah, I've heard a lot of people referencing it was like shooting fish in a barrel. But I am guessing most were using a SIM account with an unlimited stop loss as well. GL to you the rest of the way no matter which side you were on.

Risk reward ratio and winning odds

Not end of 2008/early 2009 IMO. I am sure people lost and won fortunes no doubt, as I said I am guessing very much that the greatest amount were losers and in a very big way.

Risk reward ratio and winning odds

No, opinion that 2008 was a great market to trade.

Risk reward ratio and winning odds

I really doubt everyone shares your opinion about volatility and 2008. History is continually repeating itself over and over in the market, I am guessing not too much has changed except for the technology supporting us currently.

I see, stop is variable. And this was with risking no more than 3.x% per trade? I know what your max drawdown was, but was that your MAX OPEN POSITION LOSS? I guess I do not understand well enough what you are doing to comment anymore than I have. Just keep up on the micro. Get 3 years...

Regarding returns/drawdowns Bigger returns do not necessarily mean bigger drawdowns. It's about your entry efficiency. Are you using something technical as your stop or is it always a set number. For instance in one of my programs I use a stop when 2 moving averages are > than "x" away...

Mine is too, welcome to the world of non institutional trading. Start it in a Micro FOREX account, best bet. How many lots are you laying per trade? Just 1? Also how is it that your software can adjust for certain specs like max drawdown etc. Is it theoretical? To me it doesn't...

Risk reward ratio and winning odds

As I stated previously your assumption on 50/50 is flawed. You think it's 50/50 before Non Farm Payrolls number is released? You are kidding yourself. Put all your money in a money market account and forget about trading. Save yourself the heart attack and the money. By the way, good...

How can someone blow up in day trading?

True You must learn what it feels like to "tilt" or become "psyched out". It happens, you might as well start in a micro FOREX account and do it actually and not lose a large % of your net worth. I would get aggressive with it and lose, just to show you how it feels. It will not feel...

I see you have about 100 trades for your sample size. Thats really not that bad, but it depends how you are trading. Like what is your method - volatility, mean reversion.. etc? That will unlock a lot of clues. In my ES MINI program I have 89 trades over or close to 4 years using 1...

Can you optimize "just like that" in MT4? Thats crazy, I use Sierra personally. Explain what it does when you are optimizing - what is it doing to your program or is it more hypothetical? I am having a hard time figuring this out.

Interest in your world, but not so much in reality unfortunately. You do not want drawdowns in excess of 5% MAX. You will have to change your method of entry and exit. This will of course change the whole program, and it's not just like you can "tweak" something to reflect x%...

How can someone blow up in day trading?

Your thinking is very flawed. You can lose 10 in a row just as easy. If we were all guaranteed 50% there wouldn't be much point to there being a market anymore.
