Yes. The whole basis for interrest calculations is settled cash positions and the end of the clearing day is 17:00 EST. Trades done after 17:00 are treated as next day transactions and settle one business day later than trades done at, say 16:55 EST.

Something better (perhaps) now available: When you try to short a stock, if it is rejected due to reg-SHO or availability criteria, a message will be send to a special SLB team. If there are enough requests (we use patterning algorithms that work over many days), or the stock or requestor meet...

If possible, use the Trouble Ticket' located inside Account Management. For real-time trade/order issues, always call, or at least try chat. Email gets lowest priority of all our communication pathways and will be completely de-supported in a few months. (Email is too chaotic, users dont give...

    IB accrued interest

If I understand the framework correctly, all trades are done "today". Trades 1 & 2 are closed today, while 3 and 4 are closed on Wednesday. Assume 2 day settlement in all cases. My answers are all converted back to USD: 1. net interest = 0 (in/out in same day creates no settled balance) 2. net...

    IB accrued interest

The web site is not "soft marketing". It is an exact step-by-step guide as to how we do it. It allows people to understand precisely what they get with IB. We aren't trying to convince anyone that our methods are better. We are spelling them out precisely so clients and prospects can decide...

Powerbook 1.67. OSX 10.4.5 1MB memory (with memory, more is better with java apps which are also sloppy with memory; 1MB is fine though) Nothing else special.

I use a Mac myself. The TWS works fine although Mac Javas is not quite as fast as PC java. Or to be more specific, it is more of a CPU hog on a Mac.

    IB new forex spreads

25K is the minimum order size for IDEALPRO. IDEALPRO will not accept an order for 3K USD/EUR. The 25K limit has nothing to do with your account balance. If you have 25K in your account, you can enter orders for up to 50x that amount, or 1.25M (assuming the trade is in a currency with a 2%...

    IB accrued interest

I agree that trading futures is usually cheaper than trading spot in any asset class (index futres are cheaper than trading baskets, for example). The main reason people trade spot instruments is that price discovery is usually in the cash market. The futures follow the spot, not the other way...

    IB accrued interest

If your point is the interest on tiny balances, then it is simple: IB doesn't pay interest on balances under 10K. Please note that we are talking about something like 1$/day. To be honest, IB's platform is targeted to professional traders, or traders with a professional's priorities. It is...

    Depends on the balance. The higher the balance, the better the rate. Assuming a 4.5% libor benchmark, then 200K -> ~3.92%, 500K -> 4.12%, 1M -> 4.19%

2 day settlement is still standard (USD/CAD is 1 day). Has been for 10 years. There is no savings by settling earlier. You get faster but you also pay faster. And there is the problem of mixed settlements. You buy against a liquidity provider and sell against another client: you want both...

    IB accrued interest

The trades you do on Monday only settle on Wednesday (for most FX pairs). Since you neither pay nor receive funds for Monday trades until Wednesday, they will have no bearing on the Monday (or Tuesday) night balances for purposes of interest. There is an explanation on settlement day principles...

Our calculation method is explained in great, even excruciating, detail on our website. http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/accounts/fees/interestMethods.php The entire interest schema is available under the 'fees' tab on our home page. There are examples, formulas, everything you need...

That works out to a 3.78% annual rate. That is better than IB for a 10K account. It is worse than IB for any account over 140K. Note that IB doesn't support FX trading on the PRO platform for amounts under 25K. The reality is that accts with small capital are probably better off trading...

    IB accrued interest

Interest is calculated daily and accrued. We post the amount to the statements when the accrual hits 50 usd. This is a (hopepfully) temporary limitation caused by the time it takes to post interest in 8 currencies to thousands of accounts which slows down statement delivery. When we get that...
