Why is not everyone doing this?

IMO .......... the best way to trade a KO/PEP arbitrage is to re-balance once a year: Buy $1000 worth of KO. Buy $1000 worth of PEP. Re-balance once a year to bring the dollar ratio back to 50% each. :)

Why is not everyone doing this?

"Picking up pennies in front of a bulldozer" is a term used to describe selling options for premium. It doesn't apply to stocks. :)

On this trade oldnemesis's Credit Spread trade would have been profitable - but over time his Credit Spreads are showing signs of the "picking up pennies in front of the steamroller" syndrome. With a Risk:Reward averaging about 10:1 he has had at least three trades expired at maximum loss -...

I consider Options as a tool for short-term Speculating and Hedging - not investing. Investing is buy-and-hold 1 year or more. 99% of the threads in the ET Options forum are in the Speculating/Hedging category - including your Credit Spread threads and posts. :)

The Risk:Reward is 1:10 based on my expectation of this trade. Actual Risk:Reward will be much different after the trade is closed due to the volatility of options and very dynamic market. All my trades have a 100% expected success rate upon entry. :)

TSLA Earnings - 275.00 weekly Calls

The gambling analogy for options has no place in the Options forum on ET. US equity options are the most common type of equity derivative, they are sold and bought year round - including during earnings. Be aware of the risk - below is a common disclaimer you might read on your brokers website...
