    Blown stops

What helps me to keep stops is to know that I can always get back in. To get out and back in only costs 5-$20. It's like cheap insurance, it doesn't cost much but it gives you peace of mind. It also allows the position to be re-established at a lower price without averaging down (if you still...

    Beating Buy and Hold

I believe buy and hold is in large part a marketing scheme / customer management tool. It's easier for the customer because he doesn't have to bother with the attending to his assets and it's easier to manage an account if the customer is not present. Buy and hold hasn't worked very well for the...

    Uptik's chart challenge

Markets gonna go significantly anti-positive Friday or Monday. There was a huge amount of unloading going on today and Tuesday. Especially today.

    Beating Buy and Hold

I considered putting my entire IRA into the market a year and a half / two years ago. I'm glad I didn't. It seemed like a can't-loose proposition but I would have lost plenty. Don't wager more than you can afford to loose.

Why do patterns fail?-makes no sense

If someone has some volume to sell they can wait until one of the upside patterns triggers and then unload their shares on all the pattern followers without causing the price to fall (thereby getting less for their shares). As soon as the buyers give up on the pattern and the selling pressure...

Day range as stock-screener search criteria...

You can do it with StockCharts. The dayrange indicator is called "ATR" which stands for average true range. To get the dayrange just set the ATR period to 1. I think the service costs about 15 dollars a month. Happy researching:)

    Bullets

Jem, The highest quality bliss comes from knowing the truth. Speaking just for myself, I have not learned anything so far about bullets to make me believe that I don't know it. As far as trading the futures and the Q's, what is the point of imagining trading them without bullets? Why waste time...

    Bullets

With NASDAQ stocks there are ususally many, dozens, of upticks on the way down. Take INTC for example. Today there were probably 50 or 60 uptick opportunities to go short as the stock lost 2.5% in the afternoon. Even when an equity tanks quickly, like NXTL did in the first 45 min this morning...

    Brandonf in ActiveTrader Mag?

It's cool to be in it but what a lot of info. I skimmed through it last month and ended up so unfocused and discombobulated that I had to take a nap to recover.

Nihaba, Yeah, somethings not right. Obvious really. A feeble and pathetic attempt at covert spam. What a dork.

If you break it then it really isn't a rule, it's more like advice (which you can choose to accept or not).

    "This Is Only A Test......"

Good post. It's so true, they're just numbers and lines. Getting into a war of wills with them makes about as much sense as arguing with the weather. It's possible to win a war of wills with another person but not with the market. It's a huge waste of energy and pointless. Social skills and...

Wats, Newbie's mentioned PTS 12-15 times since his very first post on Oct26. Maybe it has reached the spam-saturation point.

    No momentum

It's my understanding that if it's a NYSE stock the specialists and maybe the floor traders will know where the buy stops are (usually near whole numbers, etc.) and kick the price up if they can in order to activate the orders, which in turn causes the price to rise a bit so they can scalp. If...

    Trading Intuition

I think intuition is just the felt presence of the seed of experience before it germinates. If the intuition proves reliable about something it means that you are on the verge of understanding it. Chaos-intuition-understanding is a progression driven by time and effort. IMO.

shift in the nature of posts

I second MJT's idea. No mention of sites. Any search engine will give you a plethora of them. There's no reason to mention them here.

    No momentum

I don't do breakouts but follow through seems to be just fine lately. ....................................... I don't trade fundamentals because the timeframe is too long. Why tie up 10K for three months when you can be in and out several times and make the same amount in a few weeks. Also...
