    Inexperienced Trader Question

wwatson, you crack me up. Trader5, in my experience, 10 months, price moves usually go a lot farther than I think they will.

How Wall Street / CNBC works...

IMHO the financial media in general don't sell equities, they sell themselves. Unfortunately, that's something you can't put in your bank account. Trust me! LOL As Mr "Roberts" would say, "Hello boys and girls, can you say "charismatic liar"? I knew you could.". There's a story in the Bible...

    Blast off

I also see a third resistance line it's just broken, and also the cup & handle. BUT, this could also be seen by some large volume traders as an excellent time to unload into strength, to fade. If I had a big DOG to unload, now would be the time.

    Inexperienced Trader Question

You should have determined your exit prices (stoplosses) before you put on the trades, written them down, and when the price rose to meet them you should have covered with a hearty yell "I AM OUTTA HERE!" You've got to be able to take losses. Besides, you can always re-enter later and it will...

    What was your worst slippage?

My worst slippage was also after a halt (7hrs)in December. Not ESST, a different stock. Slippage was about 10%. After it opened back up it skyrocketed with huge volume. I had to enter and cancel 4 orders before I got filled. I left each one live for about 60 sec before I cancelled and...

    ENRON Senate Hearings

Senator Bennett from Utah was questioning today, among others, a representative of Credit Suisse, who I gather may have had an interest in Enron equities. That wasn't clear because the company has several divisions that work "independently". That part wasn't really made clear. Senator Bennett...

Looking for better ways to handle today

I often have "problems" unloading NYSE stocks. I will enter an order at the bid or a penny below and the order will be ignored or overlooked or whatever for a half a minute or so, and then the bid will drop a penny or two. I'll wait a few minutes and nothing will happen so I'll cancel and...

    Commercialization

I can only speak for myself, as a reader and independent trader. I find discussions with my peers interesting and entertaining. We have different levels of experience but we all have something in common, most of us trade full-time. Discussions between vendors and newbie potential customers are...

    My dear brothers...OBTAINING AN EDGE

One thing about going out in the wilderness alone is that you are bound to come accross a few bears who seem determined to put a quick end to your serious adventure. They feed on self-doubt and lack of faith.

    My dear brothers...OBTAINING AN EDGE

There's opportunity in that mess of ticks and indicators and timeframes. Finding it is like going out in the wilderness alone. You survive, or flourish, or perish. For the successful, it's a lone walk.

    I have a dream.

Sitting on 57K shares of one stock over the weekend? Sounds like it should be interesting no matter what happens. Hope you'll let us know how it turns out. What's your risk, worst case?

Amen Candle. The intent of criticism is not always clear at first but the spirit in which it is given makes itself known in time (to those who will discern).

    Exit strategy

Whatever you use, MA's, percentages, targets, trailing stops, etc., be sure to systematize them and then follow the system consistently. It'll help avoid letting emotions and false patterns interfere with the trading and help to validate or invalidate your method.
