    One more double = retirement

Probably end the week where it started ca. 3,000,000 SEK. Switched the 400,000 SEK from bonds into SX5E unleveraged ETF. After Thursday drop and rebound also started some high leverage ca. 15 positions in DAX and OMX. Maybe that will be the bottom of another dip? We will see. Knockout is around...

    One more double = retirement

3,000,000 SEK Things are starting to get interesting  Down a lot for the week (ca 250,000 SEK) but then I'm long and most of the indexes I play (OMX, SX5E, DAX) had big falls and are at or near lows for the year. Account is currently up 10% up since Jan 1 2014. Started a few small long...

Typo should be 3,250,000 SEK. Probably bit higher Monday if US closes at level now.

    One more double = retirement

2,250,000 SEK After doing nothing for a while was time to get more active again. EU stocks were down ca 2% going into the close Thurs which I thought was overdone and always a reasonable chance of good jobs report to set up a Friday rally. Bought back the covered calls Just before Thurs close...

    One more double = retirement

3,410,000 SEK Moved down a bit with the market. Another week sat happily doing nothing until something I like the look of comes along. With little leverage I would like an end of summer sale to pick up a few bargains.

    One more double = retirement

3,500,000 SEK Looks like I started selling the covered calls a few days early just as upwards momentum returned to Euro stocks. Still net long but fairly low leverage now. Will have to work it out properly this weekend but I would guess about x1.3 Little trading this past week. Actually had...

Gambler’s attempt to delay another blow up

Not sure why you are doing this. If you trade too big volatility takes you out of the game and its often death by a thousand cuts in trading fees. Whats new in that? Why not save yourself some time and money by doing some useful analysis instead e.g. historical probability of knockout at...

    One more double = retirement

Akelius Pref shares were 3x over subscribed (again) so was allocated just 120,000 SEK of request for 450,000 SEK. Price was 320 SEK per share and equivalent shares are now trading in the range 340-350 SEK so looks like a quick 10% profit of ca 10,000 SEK. Probably sell on first trading or...

    One more double = retirement

If I can get this trading account to ca 1 M USD then yes, retirement is an option but more likely just take jobs that interest me in science / engineering area. Some additional things to note: 1 - In addition to this main trading account I have maybe 3 years gross salary in pension accounts in...

    One more double = retirement

3,450,000 SEK Been at work conference all last week. Not much trading the last few weeks. Sold some OMX and DAX options bought on last dip to raise cash for Akelius Pref share IPO. No real surprises in Swedish general election. Just have to wait for opportunities to arise and not force trades.

Diary of an LSE stock trader

Ouch . Painful week but that weekly winning streak is very impressive. Apart from avoiding trading when company news is coming up I'm not sure you can do much about it. Sometimes you win those things, sometimes you lose, and then things can blow up at anytime anyway with BP (pipelines, rigs etc).

    One more double = retirement

3,555,000 SEK Not really done anything significant since last post. Stocks in Euro Zone, especially Italy/Spain, jumped nicely after ECB decision yesterday. Russia/Ukraine is a little quieter than normal as well. So the DAX has a reasonable chance to pass 9800 where I will start selling more of...

    One more double = retirement

Another very strong day for EU stocks yesterday. When checked account this morning I was up another 150,000 SEK which brought the total to ca. 3,400,000 SEK. Since the bottom of the dip the gain has been ca. 500,000 SEK. I could make up some self justificaiton about resistance levels and OMX...

Any long term strugglers out there?

Seems true to me. Actually think China has less rules. You would not believe the amount of paperwork I had to sign to hire a snowboard in the US. So many tick boxes saying things like you acknowledge than snow is slippy etc. Regarding trading, the US rules and capital gains taxes are one thing...

    One more double = retirement

Thanks Mo06 Account is now up ca 23% for the year now. This gives a return similar to my gross salary and is a rate at which doubling occurs every 3 years. The rebound is continuing quite rapidly in Germany/Spain/Italy but I have stopped buying. Next comes the selling to take off the leverage...

    New look of ET

The site looks and works much better on a mobile phone than the old one. However, - Dont like having to go to bottom of page to find page navigation. - Format on many journal threads is messed up and many photos just not there (including mine). - The old site had links to classic threads which...

Half way through life and not close to being consistent

Gamblingman - I understand your view of this rally being unsustainable and at some point there will be another recession and we will drop >20%. However, I don't understand you going short tomorrow when this type of data is improving -...

Half way through life and not close to being consistent

Since Im still reluctantly bullish and probably will remain so until the US economy heads south it means if you have a good week I have a bad one and vice-versa. "I can't just trade the long side. We are so overbought right now, this truly feels like 99 to me (the smallest sell off is...

    One more double = retirement

Been a good week with a strong rally. Account back to all time high ca. 3,250,000 SEK. Dip was pretty standard, fairly easy to pick the bottom and a nice clean rebound to buy into. I have a tendancy to buy and sell too soon if anything but so far still nervously holding onto the leveraged DAX...

    One more double = retirement

Started to buy the DAX when it had dropped 10%. Adding a bit more each day now as it rebounds. Also switched the European high yield bonds into stocks. Its still possible to find Swedish stocks with a PE of 12 based on the last quarter earnings and a dividend yield >5%. Seems just like another...
