Why does the USD correlate to the stock market ?

Yes, the recent USD surge coincides exactly with the November jobs numbers and is sustained by fears of contagion in European markets such as Ireland, Greece, as well as the Dubai incident. Put these factors together, along with grim prospects for Europe and UK, and the USD has short term safety...

Why does the USD correlate to the stock market ?

Agree that is a potential reason, but not always the reason. I think it's better to think of market regimes. The USD can go through regimes that are based on different widespread rationales. Your specific example above doesn't explain the recent move though, since Treasury is issuing paper...

Worst crisis since 1930 and we only had 1 down yr?

Yes, government debt, but also inflation. Especially if as you say the Fed keeps ZIRP in order to protect the banks that suffer losses from the resets. You speculate as to their ability to pay on these mortgages (the home owners), but you really don't know. If real unemployment remains...

    Anyone ever heard of real-forex.com??

Can't decide if they are worth trusting. On the negative side they are based in Baleze and are from a company I've never heard of before called Finocorp (based in Israel). On the other hand they claim and name all their liquidity providers, including UBS, DB, etc., all the large banks...

What brokers have FDIC backed accounts?

Any idea who they use? I have to think they are a white label application for retail.

    100+ pip spread

All you need to know is that when trading FX futures all trades are streamed with quotes. You'll never see this on 99.9% of FX Spot brokers, and even if you did unless it was a regulated or self audited broker, it would be useless and unreliable. Let me explain, you can and probably should...

There is now a concerted message campaing coming from the WH on Spring unemployment.

Have a link on the birth-death model being under review for change? Would love to see the details on that.

    100+ pip spread

In a true ECN, the answer is yes. This is also true on an exchange, such as the CME, or Eurex, with regards to futures. As for spot FX brokers, I have no idea, but I would not expect everyone to see the same price, because the broker is not obliged to show the same price.

Why does the USD correlate to the stock market ?

There is a simpler answer. The biggest contributor to FX rates with relation to the USD is capital flow, not commercial trade (as it once was). The USD is the safety currency of the world. As risk appetite increases, there is capital flow into other asset markets, whether that be real estate...

    100+ pip spread

Does Oanada provide a real ECN? Meaning, orders are matched between traders? Is Oanda FXTrade different from their ECN offering? I couldn't find evidence of an ECN system through them. The problem with these brokers saying they give ECN is that a true ECN must have decent liquidity in order to...

    100+ pip spread

This is why you should trade spot FX on an ECN or with direct market access to a multi-bank feed and without high leverage, or in some cases even more preferably with FX futures.

What brokers have FDIC backed accounts?

Not that I put a ton of faith in FDIC, but it should be slightly better than absolutely nothing. Are there any in the US that offer this, and of course are there any in the UK or Swiss that offer the equivalent?

What brokers have good rollover policies?

They're not all very favorable to the trader. Any short list of those that are?

Who offers hourly FX spot quotes going back to the early 90s?

Thanks. It looks like they're daily data only, no hourly.

Who offers hourly FX spot quotes going back to the early 90s?

At a reasonable price. I know a few but for 6 pairs it runs in the $8k range. Surely it can be had for less, anyone know where? I don't mean free, but reasonably lower than this ridiculous price.

There is now a concerted message campaing coming from the WH on Spring unemployment.

Yes, agreed. Thanks for adding this color. You help paint the scary picture of the future. So it still leaves my real question unanswered. Why is the White House so confident? Either they are about to pull a scam with the help of the media, they are stupid, or they just think they can get away...

There is now a concerted message campaing coming from the WH on Spring unemployment.

Is that going to be starting in the spring? I had thought that was later in the year? And yes, I do recall this being pointed out and no doubt they will take credit for it. Is the market stupid enough to fall for these hole digging jobs? Probably, or at least they'll use whatever excuse...

There is now a concerted message campaing coming from the WH on Spring unemployment.

It's been explained many times why this is so. And that this is not necessarily evidence for better numbers, but evidence of people taking themselves out of the job hunt. Now I can't claim 100% either way, but I strongly favor the theory that the numbers could only improve if there are less...

There is now a concerted message campaing coming from the WH on Spring unemployment.

You have to ask yourself why the White House is sending Geithner and Summers and just about anyone they can to the media outlets that are happy to give them air time, and then regurgitate their claim that strong job numbers are expected in the Spring. I'll ask this again. Why is this...
