Recommendations for Japan equities market color/commentary?

Looking for some good real-time and semi-real time resources/feeds on Japan's equities markets. Any suggestions?

    The charting software dilema

sort of. Any time you introduce security risk, no matter how slim, you need to manage it, like any other kind of risk. If you are a CTA or manage other people's money, you open yourself up to lawsuits. It doesn't have to be frontrunning, it can simply be the compromising of your systems and...

    The charting software dilema

Oops, you forgot the issue of vendor licensing server uptime. This isn't just about frontrunning.

    The charting software dilema

Why do you say this? AmiBroker does not phone home. So when you say "all" the others do it is misinformation.

    The charting software dilema

Do you think institutional clients accept those kinds of terms? They do not, so why should individual traders? You have a fiduciary responsibility to yourself as much as hedge funds do to their clients. Taking on risks that expose you to your vendor's servers going down or security...

    What's dirt cheap right now?

Took the words right out of my mouth. How about VXX? Despite all its flaws, a) it tracks the VIX futures, not the index itself, and b) it can suffer from serious value leak due to normal futures curve shape (what is mistakenly referred to as contango these days). Still it can't be a bad place...

    The charting software dilema

AmiBroker? Don't believe it does. How about Ensign?

    The charting software dilema

Agree, and it's a shame. MultiCharts is fantastic, hell I'd pay $2500 for a lifetime license. But I refuse to pay for a product that is lifetime but requires my PC to connect. This is a ridiculous requirement and many people are complaining about it. I really don't understand why they don't get...

Is the Government Misrepresenting Unemployment by 32%?

Then it belongs as a different line item on the treasury's sheet right?

Is the Government Misrepresenting Unemployment by 32%?

Ok, that's fine. Then explain the sudden break in correlation? Can you? Or is your response that ADP's numbers track? I don't know what ADP's methodology is. But we have two time series that have historically tracked and suddenly don't.

Volume--- how to use it and WHY

I should have been more clear. Yes I agree there is not single reliable source for FX volume, because it is an unregulated OTC spot market, as you've noted, and also as you've noted it's a multi-contributed market as well. The same case can be made for gold, interest rate deposits and FX...

Is the Government Misrepresenting Unemployment by 32%?

From ZeroHedge, they overlay the Treasury money outlays for unemployment benefits with BLS' unemployment statistics and notice that a once reliable near-perfect correlation has suddenly diverged over the past few months. What do all the faux recover bulls have to say about this I wonder...

Volume--- how to use it and WHY

Sadly you are very wrong and there is academic proof to show this. And what I notice a lot on this thread is a complete lack of rigor applied to the claims. There are entire bodies of academic work that use rigorous statistical treatments of these subjects that result in very compelling...

Thoughts on best way to calculate intraday historical vol for single days

I'm looking to take a set of days, they can be at random and have no connection to each other. I would like to calculate the historical volatility for each day. I'm not sure the best way to do this since each disparate day can have it's price "begin" at the middle of a large swing from the day...

Where can i safely park my money?

Uh huh. Which recovery is that? The one the media and the government (but I repeat myself) keeps telling you about?

    ROTFL. Sure it will.

    KUDLOW smackdown.

Who gives a shit what Ariana Puffington has to say. As bad as Kudlow's Pollyannaism is, I'll take his free market and American loving ideals over that POS Huffington any day of the week.

What happens when a state goes bankrupt?

Oh well good, we all feel better now. Guess everything will be fine.

Every stock bear is now vaporized

True, interesting ideas. However keep in mind academic research has shown that the markets go down much quicker than they go up.

For US Citizens to trade FX throug non-US brokers you must be an accredited investor?

So you're saying there is no US law barring citizens from trading with non NFA brokers overseas for any reason? Both could be true, could it not? This broker claims the rule is with the NFA and US citizens, and that they merely "honor" this rule.
