How About a Depression that Lasts for 20 Years?

Depending on the quality of their hedgebooks. Not sure what kind of hedgebooks were employed by the miners during the 20's... Anyone know if they were that sophisticated?

How About a Depression that Lasts for 20 Years?

Not everyone is day trading or swing trading. Why is that so hard for people around here to understand?

WSJ: The Tax That Won't Die

What a crock. It is not the role of government or society to reclaim what was earned by individuals over a lifetime. This is an absolute asinine argument. In fact the only purpose given for taxing AT ALL in the constitution is to pay for the cost of running the government, not to establish...

The World Is Overdue For A Currency Crisis: Jim Rogers

You are so damned right, couldn't have expressed this better. Gold bears who are grinning this week are not able to see the forest from the trees. Oh well, our gain.

Or APMEX, or about half a dozen other places.

Democrats to lower Social Security age to 55?

Like SS was going to be around 15 years from now anyway? Just saying.

Which futures brokers besides Mirus are IBs for Dorman?

Thanks, what are their commissions like? They, like Mirus, don't post them up front (annoying).

Why does Japan hold so many US Treasuries?

Funny. But hopefully not meant as a serious thought. Japan competed ruthlessly with autos, and in the end won. That's not the sign of a victim with Stockholm Syndrome.

Which futures brokers besides Mirus are IBs for Dorman?

I like Dorman as a clearer, and Mirus looks good but their commissions aren't great and they are known for low touch. So if it's low touch I would expect better rates. Any other suggestions for IB's for Dorman that might have better rates?

    NYSE LIFFE Mini Gold... why?

Volume is garbage. Why do these things exist? Anyone trade them and prefer them over CME?

    Help me understand.

What's your point about DX and Silver? And btw, I don't see very good deals on ebay for silver eagles, maybe I'm not looking hard enough. APMEX still beats what I see, plus the peace of mind of no fakes.

    Future of American Cities

+1. WTF with crap like that? Demeans yourself to speak of blacks that way and undermines otherwise valid criticism of our political system and society. This is not a race issue, it's a cultural, political and sometimes even a religious issue (as it relates to fundamentalism).

    Help me understand.

Rice? How are you going to get the energy to boil the water to cook it? Do you have a wood stove? I suggest canned legumes with long shelf life. They're precooked ;)

If everything is so great, why is oil dropping like gold?

that's just one brand of conventionall wisdom and it's contrarian to another brand, namely that capital flows into dollars are indicative of a flight to safety, and weakening dollar is a sign of capital flow from dollars into other assets suggest risk appetite. Now you have dollar appreciation...

More free money, up to $12,000

Sure they do. It's anti business because it's *confiscatory* to take money *out* of the economy from those who earned it, and then by fiat to distribute it through a flawed and often corrupt system to those whom haven't through market terms *earned* the capital flow. That's how it's anti...

    Hyperinflation effect on short positions.

Seriously doubt there would be a gold confiscation. This country is a lot different than it was almost 100 years ago.

Maybe it will soon come time to repeal the powers of the EPA

Executive branch is threatening command and control style power over emission regulations if Congress doesn't pass a Cap and Tax suicide pact. The EPA is operating beyond the scope of a government agency as was intended by the founders. If Congress is not passing a Cap and Tax, and EPA acts...
