There is something that really confuses me. I understand the basics of the VIX, and a higher number equates to higher volatility. However, the VIX was higher this year than the dot-com years. No one will forget the 10 point moves in a variety of nasdaq stocks like yhoo or brcm. But this confuses...

Its an amateur question, but how do you figure out what the vix is? Is there a special formula? I have esignal and qcharts, is there a way of figuring it out there?

It seems to be via the poll numbers, the opinions of the educated daytrader (US!), there is no overwhelming support... hell there isn't even a majority to change the spread of the emini. Exactly.. IB has to be the worst serivce ever. If you really call yourself a trader, don't go with them. They are still frozen.

Thats an interesting take. One of the reasons why i choose the eminis over the etf's are due to more openess of the bid and ask. Yes there are computer systems that reside outside of globex that can do a simlar job, but that because they invest in a third party system to do so. I don't think the...

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to hide active orders for the eminis (via globex) like there is for ECN's for equities.

No offense but there are relatively a lot less daytraders nowadays.. and most of them are just getting by. They will not pay x amt. of money to join a powerless lobbying group. What do they care if a few people don't vote for them..
