IB calendar spread margins on options (puts) for CLG16 and CLH16

I actually asked them that and they said even if it was say a short 40 put and a long 41 put ON THE SAME MONTH, then because FOPs do not have equity with loan value, then they do not count toward margin requirements. So if the short option became ITM an extra 2k and the long option increased in...

IB calendar spread margins on options (puts) for CLG16 and CLH16

IB call centers closed... Why did IB liquidate my account? I had a net liquidation value above the maintenance margin! I had a calendar spread where both options were increasing in value and then out of nowhere they buy back the front month short options at a huge loss...WTF!?!? I'm assuming...

    TWS's notation is confusing me...

Ok thanks but I am talking about the left-most plus and minus ones that is in the same cell as the ticker symbol (the off-white cell). Each option has a +1 and -1 associated with it. I'm wondering what the ones in the off-white cells refer to.

    TWS's notation is confusing me...

I executed an iron condor spread in my paper trading account. My short options are highlighted in red and have a negative P&L value. Position is -1. However, on the left-most side of the screen, there is a +1 next to the ticker symbol and strike price...why not a -1 that matches my position? My...

Newbie with fool proof strategy... or pipe dream? Why wouldn't this work?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the delta is higher for the call with the closer expiration so if the call became far enough ITM, losses would start to accumulate. But if the underlying price went the other way and the short call became further OTM, then that would be profitable. When you say...

Building a systematic system part one - data capture

Yeah me too. It's a good one. Everyone knows that an ATS reacts to events, not asks for what just happened... well, almost everyone.

Newbie with fool proof strategy... or pipe dream? Why wouldn't this work?

Okay so I'm talking about calendar spreads... Example: February crude oil short ATM call March crude oil long ATM call net debit after I wait a month or so, then I simply buy back the spread for a gain from the faster time value dissipation from the Jan call... if long call is ATM then if...
